Field Operations Manager - Construction

Overview

We are seeking an experienced, strategic Field Operations Manager to manage and coordinate Zoladz’s field workforce, primarily field operators and laborers. The manager ensures projects ranging from $1 Million to $60 Million are staffed with qualified employees and maintains expectations for safety, attendance, productivity, workmanship, and equipment care.

Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Safety, and Human Resources, the manager maintains a strong presence on active jobsites.

Core Responsibilities

• Coordinate operators and laborers across active and upcoming projects, with the ability to work with Project Managers and Superintendents to forecast manpower needs. Assign and reassign field employees based on project priorities, employee skills, and availability.
• Maintain knowledge of operator qualifications and equipment capabilities. Monitor attendance, reliability, productivity, safety, and overall field performance.
• Work with and address employee performance or conduct issues with field supervision and Human Resources.
• Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and evaluating operators and laborers. Identify training, cross-training, and advancement opportunities, to develop succession planning for future Operator, Lead Person, Foreman, and other field leadership roles.
• Visit jobsites regularly to evaluate staffing, crew utilization, employee development, safety and equipment utilization.
• Promote consistent workforce expectations across all Zoladz projects.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must have heavy civil or site construction experience, with a strong understanding of heavy equipment and field operations.
• Experience leading construction personnel, while holding consistent employee accountability and field expectations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage manpower needs across multiple projects.
• Experience: Minimum of three – five years in heavy civil, earthwork, site utilities, demolition, or highway construction estimating and project management.
• Education: Bachelor’s or associate degree (preferred) in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent practical leadership experience.
• Personal Skills: Self-starter with proven track record to take ownership of assigned projects, commitment to detail with a strong sense of urgency and ability to work independently and with a team
• Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
• Additional Requirements: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (travel to regional job sites required)

Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
