Job description

About this role

Position Summary:

We are looking for a senior HR leader who can own both ends of the HR mandate: serving as a trusted strategic partner to a commercial leadership team and building the talent engine that keeps that team winning.

This role leads the HR agenda for all of US Petcare Commercial, spanning field sales, marketing, and commercial functions. The business is in active growth mode, scaling go-to-market models and building bench strength for the next phase.

You will sit on the extended US Petcare Commercial leadership team, lead a small team of HR Business Partner (HRBP) Managers and Senior Managers, and report to the VP HR, US Commercial and Global Diagnostics.

Position Responsibilities

As the senior HRBP for US Petcare Commercial, you will be accountable for the full arc of the people agenda, from day-to-day business partnership through multi-year talent strategy.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the US Petcare Commercial leadership team on organization design, workforce strategy, and talent decisions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of HRBPs, setting the bar for structure and business impact across the client group.
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning, compensation strategy, performance management, and employee relations, bringing data and analytics into every people conversation.
  • Own succession planning for the full US Petcare Commercial leadership bench. Build ready-now and ready-soon pipelines for critical and commercial-facing roles, and actively reduce succession risk.
  • Facilitate annual and mid-year talent calibration sessions for the client group, and drive individual development plans for high-growth and critical talent from design through follow-through.
  • Design and lead proactive retention strategies for high performers and critical roles, including stay interviews and targeted interventions.
  • Lead organization design work during growth, restructuring, and go-to-market changes, ensuring the structure matches where the business is headed, not where it has been.
  • Diagnose team and organizational health, and design culture interventions where engagement gaps surface.
  • Coach senior leaders on performance differentiation, accountability, feedback quality, and retention-linked decisions.
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policy and compliance with federal and state employment law, including EEO/AAP requirements, across the client group.

Partner with HR Centers of Excellence and Zoetis Colleague Services to execute programs effectively, and act as the voice of the business in shaping what comes next.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field preferred).
  • Master's degree, MBA, or advanced certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent) is a strong plus.

Ability and willingness to travel within the U.S. as needed.

*

Technical Skills Requirements:

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with substantial time owning both HRBP and talent management accountability for a large, complex client group.
  • Experience leading and developing other HR professionals, ideally in a player-coach or people-manager capacity.
  • Proven track record designing and facilitating succession planning, talent calibration, and pipeline-building processes at scale.
  • Strong grounding in organization design, including how structure shapes culture, decision-making, and business performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and influence senior and executive leaders, including comfort pushing back when the data or the moment calls for it.
  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to read workforce data, spot trends, and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to executive audiences.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, matrixed environment.

*

Preferred:

  • Background in learning and development, leadership assessment, or capability-building program design.
  • Direct experience supporting commercial, sales, or marketing-facing organizations.
  • Workday proficiency.

Experience in life sciences, animal health, or another regulated, field-intensive industry.
