Compensation: $190,000- $220,000 base salary, plus healthcare and benefits
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to develop and deliver the software that powers complex, high-performance hardware system
This role offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, distributed systems, and advanced hardware technology, contributing to the development of sophisticated systems where performance, reliability, and scalability are critical.
Required Experience and Skills
- 5–10 years of professional software development experience.
- Self-motivated team player with a strong sense of ownership.
- Extensive experience with C++ and Python.
- Strong understanding of algorithmic efficiency, performance optimisation, and system scalability.
- Familiarity with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of HTTP and RESTful web services.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with distributed, cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with event-streaming platforms such as Apache Pulsar, Apache Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, or Amazon Kinesis.
- Experience designing systems for ease of use, maintainability, and operational reliability.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate software development and testing while maintaining high-quality solutions.
- Experience analysing and fitting scientific data, particularly data generated by scientific instruments, to extract meaningful insights and optimise system performance.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban environments.
- Experience or exposure to embedded software development concepts.
- Experience with other self-diagnostic systems, particularly in medical or automotive applications.
- An academic or professional background in physics or mathematics.
