System Engineer Level 1 (SE1) – Site Engineer

Wyetech is seeking a System Engineer Level 1 (SE1) to join a Mission-Focused Team supporting the maintenance and modernization of the customer’s operational front-end systems. In this role as a Site Engineer, the successful candidate will help ensure critical systems are functioning efficiently and producing expected output data while supporting remote maintenance and refresh efforts across multiple customer sites.
The System Engineer will interact daily with partner entities, manage requirements, validate system component functionality, and provide hands-on support across systems administration, troubleshooting, software package loading, and network configuration. This position requires the ability to support multiple sites, with annual travel to each site expected.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Demonstrated experience using the Linux operating system, including command-line functionality.
- Experience with Linux or UNIX system administration and/or network administration and maintenance.
- Experience with modern telecommunications technologies.
- Basic troubleshooting experience.
- Experience supporting the maintenance, configuration, and upgrade of operational systems.
- Experience with systems administration.
- Experience loading and configuring software packages.
- Experience with network configuration and maintenance.
- Ability to manage and validate system requirements and component functionality.
- Ability to interact effectively with partner entities, customers, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to support annual travel to multiple customer sites.
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Experience with front-end collection systems.
- Experience with DNR/DNI collection and dataflow, including FOP configuration.
- Scripting experience using Bash, Shell, and/or Python.
- Familiarity with Apache NiFi.
- Basic knowledge of network protocols.
Capabilities:
- Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure delivery of production systems compatible with defined system architectures, including Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Contribute to the development of systems engineering documentation, including System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
- Assist with developing system requirements and functional requirements and allocating those requirements to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
- Coordinate resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination.
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities based on development and operational considerations.
- Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components.
- Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
- Define methods, processes, and evaluation criteria used to verify systems, subsystems, and work products against established requirements.
- Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements and fulfill functional analyses.
- Review and provide input to program and contract Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), work packages, and Integrated Master Plans (IMP).
- Participate in the development of systems engineering documentation throughout the system lifecycle.
- Participate in interface definition, design, and configuration changes among affected groups and individuals.
- Derive an understanding of stakeholder needs and essential system functions from established system requirements.
- Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements and ensure requirements are complete, correct, unique, unambiguous, realizable, and verifiable.
- Participate in establishing and gaining approval of system and component definitions, including requirements, designs, interfaces, and test procedures, to provide a common reference point for hardware and software developers.
- Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services, including confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, and availability.
- Develop requirements supporting Information Assurance mechanisms such as identification, authentication, access control, and accountability.
- Support security mechanism technologies including passwords, cryptography, discretionary and mandatory access control, hashing, and key management.
Qualifications:
- Seven (7) years of experience as a Systems Engineer (SE) on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
- Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required. (e.g. Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency appropriate polygraph).

Salary Range: $34. 96 - $106. 1 USD Hourly
- Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
