Software Engineer Level 2 (SWE2) – QUICKTRAIN

Wyetech is seeking a Software Engineer Level 2 (SWE2) to support the QUICKTRAIN TTO, a small team of highly motivated professionals providing world-class software development and operational support to a national customer. The ideal candidate will leverage and integrate strong front-end UI/UX and back-end development skills to support the design, development, and deployment of a cloud-enabled data transport service.

The QUICKTRAIN development team consists of software developers, systems engineers, test engineers, and system administrators. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Spring Boot UI Developer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining user interfaces for an enterprise-level application using modern front-end technologies alongside a robust Spring Boot backend.

This role requires a strong understanding of UI/UX principles, server-side development, Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and modern JavaScript frameworks to ensure seamless integration and a high-quality user experience.

The candidate will work closely with the customer to establish clear requirements and use cases that drive development of the UI product and will support cloud environments including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Strong experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency with at least one modern JavaScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Understanding of responsive design principles and component-based architecture.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design principles and the ability to create user-friendly interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of core Java concepts, including object-oriented programming (OOP), data structures, algorithms, and Java 8+ features.
  • Experience with Spring Framework, including Spring Core, Spring MVC, and Spring Boot.
  • Knowledge of dependency injection, AOP, and Spring Data.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of HTTP methods and JSON data exchange.
  • Experience integrating front-end applications with back-end services.
  • Experience with Spring Security, including authentication, authorization, and securing APIs and web applications.
  • Experience with JPA/Hibernate for database interactions.
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Proficiency using Git for version control and code management.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Jest.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working collaboratively with customers, back-end developers, designers, testers, and other development team members.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and principles.
  • Familiarity with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  • Experience integrating cloud storage APIs and environments.
  • Experience developing scalable enterprise applications.
  • Experience optimizing client- and server-side application performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement highly responsive user interface components using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Collaborate with customers, test team members, and other developers to establish UI requirements, use cases, and application design.
  • Build and maintain robust and scalable backend APIs and services using Spring Boot and RESTful principles.
  • Integrate front-end applications with backend services to ensure efficient data flow and secure communication.
  • Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and performance across both client and server environments.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in accordance with established best practices and coding standards.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to architectural guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and technical issues.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend adoption where appropriate.
  • Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.

  • Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using appropriate analysis and models to predict and measure design outcomes and consequences.
  • Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
  • Perform quality control on team products.
  • Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
  • Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure work is completed in accordance with the applicable software development process.
  • Confer with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information regarding project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.

Qualifications:

  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required. (e.g. Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency appropriate polygraph).

Salary Range: $64. 04 - $120. 27 USD Hourly
