About this role

Tax Accountant – Full-Time

Salary range: $90,000-$110,000

Build a meaningful career. Make room for a meaningful life.

You shouldn’t have to choose between doing work you’re proud of and being present for the people you love. At Wood CPA, we bring those priorities together. We’re a small firm in Edina, Minnesota, focused on health and wellness clients, and committed to the health and wellness of our own team.

We’re looking for an in-person Tax Accountant who wants more than a narrow assignment: someone who enjoys variety, values relationships, and someone who believes in exceptional client service and a fulfilling life outside work belong together.

Why choose Wood CPA?

· A broader role, not a smaller lane. If you’re looking for an alternative to a narrowly defined role at a larger firm, our small-firm environment offers a wide range of responsibilities and the opportunity to see how your work connects to the bigger picture.

· A wellness focus with purpose. Support health and wellness clients while working with a team that values employee well-being, too. Wellness is part of how we think about both our clients and our workplace.

· Family first. Quality always. We prioritize families while maintaining excellent client service and delivery.

That means approaching commitments thoughtfully, communicating proactively, and working together to meet deadlines—not treating personal priorities and professional standards as competing values.

· Relationships over layers. Bring your ideas, take ownership, and contribute across the work of a small firm. Your contribution is connected to the clients you serve, not just one piece of a larger process.

What you’ll do

· Prepare tax returns and supporting workpapers with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.

· Research tax questions, identify issues, and collaborate on practical solutions for clients.

· Help organize and reconcile financial information needed for tax preparation and planning.

· Communicate clearly with clients about needed information, open questions, and next steps.

· Prepare tax projections and support tax planning conversations and help clients understand their tax picture.

· Manage multiple priorities, keep the team informed, and follow through on commitments.

· Contribute beyond a single task by helping improve processes and supporting the varied needs of a small firm.

What you’ll bring

· CPA or EA license (required).

· 3+ years in tax preparation, with a commitment to continued learning.

· Careful attention to detail, sound judgment, and respect for confidential client information.

· Strong organization and clear, approachable communication.

· A willingness to ask questions, take initiative, and collaborate across responsibilities.

· A genuine interest in serving health and wellness clients.

· A belief that excellent work, employee well-being, and family priorities can reinforce one another.

· The following personality traits:

o Humble: You welcome feedback, appreciate others’ contributions, and put shared success ahead of personal recognition.

o Hungry: You’re self-motivated, eager to learn, and proactive about taking responsibility and helping the team deliver excellent work.

o Smart: You bring people smarts—listening with empathy, using sound interpersonal judgment, and understanding how your words and actions affect colleagues and clients.

Benefits

· Simple IRA with employer match after one year

· 15 PTO days per year

· 9 company holidays + 2 additional flexible holidays

· Flexible scheduling

· Reasonable tax-season hours

· On-site fitness center and café

· Bonus opportunities

Make your next move a better fit

If you’re ready to trade a narrow lane for broader involvement, and want a workplace where family, wellness, and outstanding client service all matter, we’d love to connect. Bring your curiosity, care, and commitment to Wood CPA in Edina, MN.
