About this role

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Seattle, WA | Full time | Onsite

About WiBotic

WiBotic develops wireless charging systems and fleet energy management software for robots, drones, and other autonomous systems. Our multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in wireless power, electronics, batteries, software, and mechanical design to help customers keep their autonomous fleets operating reliably.

The role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of our wireless charging hardware, including electronics enclosures, chassis, and charging assemblies. You will own designs from concept through prototyping, validation, tooling, and production release, working closely with our electrical, RF, and manufacturing teams.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities. The position requires full-time, in-person work at our Seattle, WA office.

What you will do

  • Own mechanical designs that balance thermal performance, reliability, manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and cost.
  • Design production parts for injection molding, sheet-metal fabrication, and aluminum machining; evaluate casting, extrusion, and other processes where appropriate.
  • Develop and validate thermal paths from power electronics to chassis and ambient air using thermal interface materials, heat spreaders, and heat sinks. Account for contact pressure, tolerances, and assembly methods.
  • Create SolidWorks models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings with appropriate tolerances, materials, finishes, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Build prototypes and plan and conduct thermal, mechanical, and environmental testing. Use test results to improve designs and verify performance.
  • Coordinate PCB mounting, connectors, cable routing, coil packaging, and other mechanical interfaces with electrical and RF engineers.
  • Work directly with suppliers on design for manufacturing, tooling reviews, first-article inspections, and production ramp. Resolve fabrication and assembly issues.
  • Lead design reviews, mentor less-experienced engineers, and maintain controlled drawings, bills of materials, and engineering changes.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 7 years of relevant mechanical design experience, including ownership of hardware designs taken into production.
  • Demonstrated production experience designing injection-molded plastic parts, sheet-metal enclosures, and aluminum components, with an understanding of tooling and manufacturing constraints.
  • Strong experience packaging electronics, including PCB mounting, connectors, fasteners, cable management, and tolerance stack-ups.
  • Strong heat-transfer fundamentals and practical experience managing electronics temperatures through conduction to chassis, thermal interfaces, heat sinks, and passive cooling.
  • Advanced SolidWorks proficiency, including assemblies and production drawings, with a working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Hands-on prototyping and testing skills, experience troubleshooting mechanical and thermal issues, and the ability to work directly with manufacturers.
  • Ability to make and communicate design tradeoffs, manage your work independently, and collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with CFD, thermal simulation, or finite element analysis, including correlating models with physical test results.
  • Design experience with sealed enclosures, ingress protection, gaskets, environmental durability, and shock or vibration requirements.
  • Experience with die-cast or extruded aluminum, material selection, surface finishes, and corrosion considerations.
  • Experience with power electronics, wireless power, or other electromechanical products.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM, Arena, or similar systems for managing product data and engineering changes.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Base Salary: $140,000 - $180,000,depending on experience and qualifications.

Health & Financial Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with two healthcare plan options.
  • 401(k) with company matching contributions.
  • Stock options to share in the company's growth.
  • Paid Family Leave supplementation for new parents.

Flexibility &

Work-Life Balance

  • Flexible PTO to recharge and enjoy time outside of work.
