Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team.

We are looking for someone who can work Saturdays and at least one weekday afternoon/evening: 4-7pm.

Our outpatient serves primarily those with private insurance and our clinic culture is anchored in person-centered excellent care. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, a friendly personality and experience in mental health care and be skilled in providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment for patients across various age groups.

This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support the mental well-being of our patients.

Duties

• Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and evaluations to determine patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide medication management, including the administration of psychotropic medications and monitoring for efficacy and side effects.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals in various settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics
• Utilize telehealth platforms to provide remote consultations and follow-up care as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
• Participate in case management activities to coordinate care across different services and providers.
• Stay current with best practices in psychiatric nursing, including knowledge of psychopharmacology, behavioral health interventions, and crisis management.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) from a recognized certifying body.
• Experience in various clinical settings such as emergency medicine, inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, or geriatrics is preferred.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and documentation standards is essential.
• Skills in performing physical examinations, patient assessments, medication administration, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and basic life support are required.
• Knowledge of specific therapeutic techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acute pain management strategies, and psychopharmacology is advantageous.
• Experience working with diverse populations including children, seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice/palliative care is beneficial.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
