About this role
New Graduate Nurse Practitioner – VA Disability Exams & Direct Primary Care
Location: Brandon, FL (in person)
Compensation: $100,000–$150,000+ per year, based on exam volume and the patients you care for
Arrangement: 1099 independent contractor, at least 80 hours per month
Start Date: Rolling starts, now onboarding
Ideal Candidate: Newly certified NPs, or NPs with less than 2 years of practice
Start your NP career with real training behind you
Starting out as a new NP can feel like being thrown in the deep end. We built this role so you don't have to go it alone. You'll get structured training, a full support team, and a steady flow of patients.
That lets you build confidence and clinical skill from day one, and you focus on medicine while we handle everything else.
This role is for NPs who want to put their energy into growing as clinicians and grow with our team over the long term.
What you'll do
- VA disability exams (C&P): Do General Medicine DBQs and medical opinion exams for veterans. The work is structured and follows set protocols, and our staff preps every chart before you see the patient. These are diagnostic evaluations, not ongoing treatment.
- Direct Primary Care (DPC): Give personalized, unhurried care to a capped group of our practice's membership patients. Your patient list grows as you gain confidence.
- Mentorship: You'll work closely with our clinical leadership and have regular check-ins on documentation quality, clinical decisions and your progress.
Training and support we provide
- Full C&P exam training: You don't need any VA exam experience. We teach our documentation protocols, DBQ requirements and how to write medical opinions.
- Documentation mentorship: We review your charts and give you feedback until you're working on your own with confidence.
- Dedicated medical assistant: Handles VA chart prep, veteran intake and filing.
- Triage support: Handles patient messages, routine refills, scheduling and non-clinical questions.
- Modern tools: A mobile-friendly EMR and a HIPAA-compliant app for secure patient messaging.
- Supervising physician: We set up your physician supervision protocol before you start.
- Gradual ramp-up: Your patient volume grows step by step as you're ready.
Compensation
- Per-exam rate: A fixed fee for each completed VA disability exam
- Monthly DPC fee: A recurring monthly fee for each DPC member you care for
- Growth: New providers usually earn $100K+ in year one. Pay rises as you show strong VA documentation results, measured by exam volume, turnaround time and chart quality.
Because this is a 1099 role, you set your own schedule within our clinic's operating hours. You may also be able to deduct some work expenses, so please talk with a tax professional.
Who we're looking for
Required:
- Active Florida APRN license, or eligibility for one
- National board certification (FNP or AGNP-PC)
- Graduated within the last 2 years, or less than 2 years of NP practice
- Detail-oriented, open to coaching, and comfortable with EMRs and digital tools
Nice to have: Clinical experience as an RN, a military or veteran healthcare background, or experience with Medicare wellness visits
Is this role right for you?
We put a lot of time and resources into training every provider, so we want to be upfront about who this role fits.
This role is a great fit if you:
- Want a long-term clinical home where you can grow
- Want to master VA disability exams and relationship-based primary care
- Want mentorship and structure early in your career
This role is not the right fit if you:
- Currently own or have an ownership stake in a healthcare business, such as a practice, med spa, IV hydration clinic, telehealth company, or hormone/weight-loss clinic
- Plan to open a healthcare business within the next 2 years
- Mainly want to learn the business side of a concierge or VA exam practice
If you're building your own venture, we respect that. This just isn't that kind of opportunity.
How to apply
Email your CV to [email protected] with a short note that answers these questions:
- When did you finish your NP program, and what certification do you hold?
- What draws you to VA disability exams and Direct Primary Care?
- Do you currently own, have an ownership stake in, or plan to open a healthcare-related business within the next 2 years? (Please answer yes or no.)
