About Viva Innovation

Viva Innovation builds and operates software platforms that help training organizations, schools, and small businesses manage learning at scale. Our core product is a customized Moodle-based platform used by customers, and we're looking for a developer to have a direct line to the product roadmap. We're a small, tight team.

You'll work closely with the founders, talk directly to customers, and see your code in production within days of writing it.

The Role

We're looking for a bilingual full-stack developer who's equally comfortable in a terminal, on a customer call, and in a GitHub PR. This isn't a ticket-taker role, you'll own problems from first contact to resolution, and you'll have the judgment to know when to fix fast and when to spec carefully.

If you like building things that matter to real users, explaining technical decisions in plain language, and working without layers of bureaucracy, this role was designed for you.

What You'll

Own

Customer issues end-to-end: triage → clarify (calls, email) → reproduce → fix or spec → ship → follow up with a clear summary in French or English

Feature development: build and maintain features in Ruby on Rails and React; write tests and documentation; collaborate in GitHub (issues, PRs, code reviews)

Moodle integrations: extend and customize our LMS platform (plugins, web services, SSO, data flows)

Production health: diagnose incidents using logs, traces, and SQL; drive root-cause fixes; reduce repeat failures

Releases and roll-outs: partner with Product and Customer Success on release notes and customer-facing communications.

Requirements

Must-haves

Fluent French and English (spoken and written) — you'll lead customer conversations in both languages across Québec and the rest of Canada

2–5+ years building production web applications with Ruby on Rails and React

Experience integrating or extending Moodle (or another LMS) and working with REST or GraphQL APIs

Strong Git/GitHub habits, comfort with SQL performance basics, and some CI/CD exposure

Structured problem-solving, analytical thinking, and clear, empathetic communication — with customers and with teammates

Nice to have Background job processing (Sidekiq/ActiveJob), caching strategies, or search indexing (Meilisearch/Elasticsearch)

Basic cloud or ops experience (DigitalOcean, AWS), observability tooling, or zero-downtime migration practices

Enterprise customer experience — SLAs, Runbooks, incident communications

Benefits Competitive salary based on experience. Health benefits, paid time off, equipment budget, and learning budget. Direct impact on the product roadmap and customer satisfaction. Details Originally posted on Himalayas
