If you’re passionate about communications, creativity, and helping innovative brands stand out, consider joining our team!

Role Summary

The Senior Account Executive is a client-facing PR leader responsible for managing day-to-day relationships and strategic execution across a portfolio of Venture PR clients. This role combines account leadership, media relations, strategic counsel, and hands-on PR execution, ensuring clients receive consistent, proactive support and that campaigns continue moving forward without requiring constant senior-level oversight.

The ideal candidate is an experienced PR professional who can confidently own client relationships, develop and execute media strategies, identify compelling story angles, build relationships with journalists, and keep multiple accounts organized and on track.

As Venture PR continues to grow its client portfolio, this person will play an important role in expanding the firm's capacity to take on additional clients while maintaining the high level of senior attention and service that differentiates the agency.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Account Leadership — 30%

  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients, building trusted relationships and maintaining a strong understanding of each client's business, industry, goals, and priorities.
  • Lead regular client communications, status calls, and campaign planning discussions.
  • Translate client objectives into clear PR strategies, priorities, and actionable plans.
  • Proactively identify opportunities, challenges, and potential issues before they become problems.
  • Keep clients informed on campaign progress, media opportunities, results, and next steps.
  • Manage multiple client accounts simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and responsiveness.
  • Ensure client deliverables, deadlines, and commitments are consistently met.

Media Relations & Earned Media — 30%

  • Develop and execute targeted media outreach strategies aligned with client objectives.
  • Research and identify relevant journalists, publications, podcasts, influencers, and other media opportunities.
  • Develop compelling pitches, press releases, media alerts, briefing materials, and other communications.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with journalists and media contacts.
  • Conduct proactive and timely follow-up with media contacts to maximize opportunities.
  • Secure relevant earned media coverage across technology, business, trade, consumer, and other priority outlets.
  • Coordinate media opportunities, interviews, product reviews, and executive commentary.
  • Monitor relevant news and industry trends to identify timely opportunities for clients.

PR Strategy & Content — 20%

  • Develop creative story angles and narratives that position clients and their executives as credible voices within their industries.
  • Support product launches, company announcements, funding announcements, events, and other major client initiatives.
  • Contribute to thought leadership strategies, including bylines, op-eds, executive commentary, and speaking opportunities.
  • Prepare executives and clients for interviews and media opportunities.
  • Collaborate on messaging, positioning, media training, and other strategic communications initiatives.
  • Review campaign performance and use results and industry insights to refine strategy.

Team Collaboration & Mentorship — 10%

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, feedback, and direction to junior team members, including Account Coordinators, interns, and contractors.
  • Delegate appropriate research, media monitoring, administrative, and execution tasks while remaining accountable for the final work product.
  • Review junior team members' work for quality, accuracy, and alignment with client strategy.
  • Help develop junior talent by sharing PR best practices, media insights, and client-management skills.
  • Partner with senior leadership to identify opportunities to improve team workflows, account capacity, and client service.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Clients view you as a trusted, responsive, strategic partner who understands their business and keeps their PR program moving.
  • Assigned accounts operate smoothly without requiring senior leadership to manage day-to-day details.
  • Media outreach is targeted, thoughtful, persistent, and consistently generates meaningful opportunities.
  • You independently identify news hooks, story angles, and opportunities rather than waiting for clients to provide them.
  • You consistently meet campaign deadlines and client commitments.
  • You can successfully manage multiple accounts while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Junior team members receive clear direction and develop stronger PR and account-management skills under your guidance.
  • Venture PR is able to take on additional clients without sacrificing the senior-level attention and results that are central to its client experience

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of public relations, communications, or agency experience.
  • Experience working with technology, SaaS, AI, robotics, consumer electronics, or other high-growth companies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing client accounts in a PR agency or similar client-services environment.
  • Strong media relations experience, including pitching and securing earned media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong client-management and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop PR strategies and translate them into execution.
  • Strong judgment, organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
  • Available to participate in occasional evening calls (7:00 PM – 7:30 PM PT) to support our international clients.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Existing relationships with relevant technology, business, trade, or consumer media.
  • Experience supporting product launches, funding announcements, executive thought leadership, or major industry events.
  • Experience mentoring or providing day-to-day direction to junior PR professionals.
  • Agency experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
