About this role
Description
Vector Solutions is a leading, AI-enabled, performance platform powering safe, compliant, and efficient operations for the public, educational, and commercial sectors. We bring training, safety, and workforce operations together to boost readiness, reduce risk, and drive high-performance results for the everyday heroes who count on us.
The Senior Product Manager owns the technical product definition, roadmap, and release quality of Convergence, Vector Solutions’ cloud-hosted learning management system (LMS) for the Commercial sector.
The role applies engineering and strategic business knowledge to translate customer and market needs into precise technical requirements for a multi-tier software platform built on a .NET/C# back end, a JavaScript front end, cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure), API-based integrations, and a mobile application, and for new AI-enabled capabilities.
The Senior Product Manager works daily with software engineers, architects, and quality assurance staff to evaluate design trade-offs, validate that delivered software meets its specifications, and solve technical problems involving data, system integration, AI feature quality, and performance.
Convergence is sold primarily to commercial industry customers, including manufacturing, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and construction companies, so the role also requires subject matter expertise in industrial operations, equipment, and safety-critical work in order to define how the platform represents and verifies the skills, qualifications, and compliance requirements of those workforces.
What You'll Do
Technical Environment
- Back end: .NET / C# services and relational data stores; cloud hosting on AWS and/or Azure.
- Front end: JavaScript-based web application.
- Mobile Frameworks: both Android and iOS
- Integration layer: APIs and data exchange between Convergence and external customer and third-party systems.
- AI/LLM-enabled features: AI will be used used in various application features including search, administrative workflows and reporting.
- Delivery: Agile development with sprint planning, backlog refinement, design reviews, user acceptance testing, and staged releases.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Approximate share of time is shown for each area.
1. Technical Requirements, Architecture, and Integrations (approx. 30%)
- Analyze customer needs, usage data, and market gaps and convert them into product requirements, user stories, and testable acceptance criteria for the .NET/C# services, JavaScript user interface, and API layer of Convergence.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews with engineering. Evaluate the trade-offs among performance, scalability, security, maintainability, and delivery time of proposed solutions on the cloud-hosted (AWS/Azure) platform, and assess technical feasibility, dependencies, and technical debt when sequencing the roadmap.
- Specify API and data-integration requirements for exchanging learner, activity, and credentialing data between Convergence and external systems, including data mapping, data-integrity rules, error handling, and the handling of edge cases and conflicting source data.
- Define how the platform models industrial workforce structures, such as sites, crews, job roles, equipment- or task-specific qualifications, and recertification cycles, so that training and competency records reflect the operating realities of manufacturing, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and construction customers.
- Maintain the technical product roadmap and backlog, defining scope, dependencies, and release timelines in coordination with the development team.
2. AI-Enabled Capabilities (approx. 20%)
- Define functional and quality requirements for AI-enabled features in Convergence, including relevance and accuracy expectations, handling of ambiguous inputs, response-time targets, and fallback behavior.
- Establish evaluation criteria and acceptance thresholds for AI output quality, accuracy, and safety, and analyze test results to decide whether a feature is ready for release or needs redesign.
- Validate that AI-generated content, such as assessments and reports, is technically sound, consistent with the platform’s data model, and reflects real industrial equipment, process, and safety requirements.
3. Administrator Dashboard, Analytics, and Reporting (approx. 20%)
- Define requirements for the redesigned, customizable administrator landing experience, including configurable components, role-based views, and aggregation of data from multiple modules into guided workflows.
- Define product metrics and usage instrumentation requirements, and analyze adoption and performance data to evaluate whether delivered features meet their objectives and to prioritize subsequent releases.
4. Mobile Application (approx. 10%)
- Define the scope and technical requirements of the Convergence mobile application, including which capabilities to deliver on mobile, platform-specific constraints (device capabilities, performance, and screen-size limits), and reuse of existing APIs and services.
- Coordinate mobile and web release planning so that functionality and data remain consistent across channels.
5. Quality Assurance and Release Management (approx. 10%)
- Partner on test plans and acceptance test scenarios, perform user acceptance testing of pre-release builds, and triage defects by severity and customer impact.
- Validate that each release meets its documented specifications and determine release readiness with engineering and QA leadership.
6. Product Strategy and Go-to-Market Support (approx. 10%)
- Perform competitor, customer, and market analysis, focused on the manufacturing, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and construction segments, to identify trends, market gaps, and new product opportunities; recommend positioning and pricing, and track product performance against business metrics.
- Coordinate product launches and prepare technical documentation, release notes, and training for internal sales, support, and customer-facing teams.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
- Five or more years of experience as a product manager (or in a closely related technical role) for B2B SaaS or technology products.
- Working knowledge of industrial operations in sectors such as manufacturing, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and construction
- Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate technical concepts, including APIs, data models, cloud architecture, and software testing, and to learn new technologies quickly.
- Experience working within an Agile product development process.
- Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams by influence and to work independently.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
