This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, building practical technology solutions, and working collaboratively with business and technology teams.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, sound engineering judgment, and an understanding of how technology can be leveraged to improve workflows, automate manual processes, increase efficiency, and enhance the overall user experience.

The Software Engineer will play an important role in the continued modernization of our technology environment and will have the opportunity to contribute to both new product development and the enhancement of existing systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware Development

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software applications.
  • Write clean, scalable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Develop new applications, features, APIs, integrations, and internal tools.
  • Enhance and modernize existing applications and technology systems.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application and system issues.
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Systems & Architecture

  • Work with the leadership team to develop and implement scalable application architectures.
  • Contribute to decisions regarding technology platforms, frameworks, databases, APIs, and development tools.
  • Build systems designed for reliability, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between internal and third-party systems.
  • Help identify opportunities to eliminate redundant technology and simplify the organization's technology environment.

Automation & Process Improvement

  • Partner with business teams to understand existing workflows and identify opportunities for technology-driven improvements.
  • Develop and collaborate on automation solutions that reduce manual work and improve speed, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage APIs, workflow automation, AI, and other emerging technologies.
  • Measure the effectiveness of technology solutions and continuously improve them.

Security & Data Protection

  • Follow secure software development practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Help protect company and clients' confidential information.
  • Develop applications with appropriate authentication, authorization, access controls, encryption, and logging.
  • Identify and address potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Follow organizational cybersecurity, privacy, data protection, and technology policies.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of the security implications associated with AI, third-party applications, APIs, and cloud technologies.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the COO, technology team, business leaders, and end users to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in project planning, technical design sessions, sprint planning, and other development activities.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to establish consistent development practices and standards.
  • Provide thoughtful recommendations regarding technology solutions and implementation approaches.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or similar.
  • Experience developing web applications, APIs, and software integrations.
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
  • Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and system integrations.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with React, Angular, Node.js, .NET, or similar modern frameworks.

  • Experience with workflow automation and business-process optimization.
  • Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or integrating AI services into applications.
  • Experience developing applications in environments where security, privacy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance are critical.
  • Experience working within professional services, financial services, healthcare, legal technology, or other data-sensitive environments is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

  • Thinks critically and approaches problems from a solutions-oriented perspective.
  • Understands the business problem behind the technology request.
  • Is comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Takes ownership of projects and follows them through to completion.
  • Is curious about emerging technologies and understands how to apply them responsibly.

  • Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in producing reliable, high-quality work.
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Is comfortable challenging existing processes and proposing better solutions.
  • Understands that security and confidentiality must be incorporated into technology decisions from the beginning—not added later.
