About this role

Staff Accountant

--------------------

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Staff Accountant who is ready to take the next step in their career—someone who enjoys owning complex accounting work, improving processes, and partnering with leaders to drive smart business decisions.

In this role, you’ll be a key bridge between our staff accountants and finance leadership, helping ensure accurate financial reporting for Value Drug Company and its subsidiaries. You’ll play an important role in month-end close, reconciliations, audits, and business analysis, while gaining exposure to executive leadership and strategic initiatives.

If you’re detail-oriented, naturally curious, and motivated by continuous improvement, this is a great opportunity with potential to grow into a future finance leadership role.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Staff Accountant, you will:

  • Support and help lead the monthly close process across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and review journal entries and complex reconciliations
  • Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and related subledgers
  • Serve as a go-to resource for GAAP compliance and internal accounting policies
  • Support sales and use tax filings, ABL reporting, and other regulatory submissions
  • Assist with financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical support for finance leadership
  • Manage fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and capital project tracking
  • Support dividend, patronage, and stock-related activities
  • Prepare consolidated and stand-alone financial statements and executive dashboards
  • Administer unclaimed property reporting and 1099 compliance
  • Act as a key liaison during audits and internal reviews, coordinating documentation and issue resolution
  • Drive process improvements, automation efforts, and internal controls documentation
  • Support ERP system enhancements and help train accounting staff on best practices
  • Mentor junior accountants and assist with onboarding new team members
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support as business needs arise

What We’re Looking For

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-5 years of accounting experience in corporate and/or public accounting environments
  • Strong expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and consolidation
  • Hands-on experience leading month-end close and preparing financial statements
  • Solid ERP system experience with the ability to troubleshoot accounting issues
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to partner across teams
  • A continuous-improvement mindset and interest in leadership growth

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Office-based role with a professional, quiet work environment
  • Limited travel related to training only

Why You’ll Enjoy Working Here

This role offers meaningful responsibility, visibility to leadership, and room to grow. You’ll be part of a collaborative finance team that values accuracy, improvement, and partnership. If you’re looking for a role where your work truly matters—and where you can build toward future leadership—we’d love to hear from you.
