Location: Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA

Work arrangement: Hybrid — 3 days onsite per week

• Frontend: Angular, React
• DB – RDS, Query optimization, tuning
• AWS, Lambda
• Experience in performance testing, automation, unit testing
• AI : must have understanding the code, to tune and optimize the code.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and taking ownership from investigation through resolution. This is a

backend-focused

role building and improving production applications, APIs, and cloud services.

You’ll help address urgent issues with practical short-term solutions while also identifying and delivering durable fixes. Your work will support important regulatory operations and contribute to protecting investors and maintaining fair, efficient markets.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using

Java and Spring Boot

.

• Investigate production and performance issues, implement appropriate immediate mitigations, and follow through with permanent solutions.
• Build and optimize REST APIs and services for reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Work with

AWS

, including

Lambda

and

RDS

, to develop and operate cloud-based applications.

• Analyze database performance, optimize queries, and contribute to database tuning.
• Build and maintain frontend features using

Angular and/or React

.

• Develop and improve unit tests, automated tests, and performance testing practices.
• Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully: understand generated code, assess its quality, and tune or optimize it as needed.
• Identify technical risks, simplify code and infrastructure, and improve maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, data, compliance, and engineering teams; participate in code reviews and share knowledge.

What you’ll bring

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience

, including full stack development.

• Strong hands-on experience with

Java, Spring Boot, and API development

.

• A backend-first engineering background and the ability to work across the full stack.
• Experience with

Angular and/or React

.

• Experience with

AWS

, especially

Lambda and RDS

.

• Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and database performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with performance testing, test automation, and unit testing.
• A problem-solving mindset: able to diagnose issues, make sound tradeoffs, and balance immediate fixes with long-term solutions.
• The ability to understand, evaluate, and improve code produced with AI-assisted tools.
• Strong communication skills and a track record of taking work through to completion.

Nice to have

• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Python, or Spark SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, infrastructure as code, or GitLab CI/CD.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Fargate, S3, or EMR.
• AWS certification, such as Solutions Architect or Developer Associate.
• Experience using generative AI tools across software development workflows.
