Job description

About this role

Position: Associate Physical Security Systems Engineer

Location: Emmaus, PA

Job Type: Full-Time

TWG Security turns passive security systems into proactive ones. Since 2007, we've designed, installed, and serviced integrated enterprise security for organizations across Eastern PA and NJ — recognized by Inc. 5000 and Lehigh Valley Business as one of the fastest-growing companies in our industry and region.

We partner with Motorola Solutions/Avigilon, Verkada, Axis, Network Optix, Genea, Peplink, and Software House to give clients big-player capability with local, face-to-face service.

We're looking for a motivated, early-career Associate Physical Security Systems Engineer to help configure, commission, and support the video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and network systems we install.

You'll report to the IT Manager and take day-to-day technical direction from our Senior Project Engineer, splitting your time between client projects and TWG's own systems — including the AI tools and integrations we use to run the company. Bring solid networking fundamentals and strong troubleshooting instincts; we'll train you on our platforms, with a clear path to Physical Security Systems Engineer.

Local commutable candidates to the Lehigh Valley, PA Only (No 3rd party applications)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configure and stage IP cameras, access control hardware, network equipment and servers prior to deployment
  • Perform IP addressing, VLAN and switch configuration, and basic network setup for security systems
  • Assist with system commissioning, testing and verification in the field alongside the Project Engineer and field technicians
  • Support the Linux and Windows servers used for video recording and access control
  • Troubleshoot device, network and system issues with field technicians, and escalate with enough detail that the next person can act on it
  • Handle service tickets and remote support requests, and perform firmware updates, licensing tasks and routine system maintenance
  • Maintain network diagrams, IP schemas, device inventories and as-built documentation
  • Assist with client training and system turnover
  • Administer TWG's internal systems (user accounts, workstations, Google Workspace, endpoint management, patching and backups), support our network, server and cloud infrastructure, and provide day-to-day technical support to staff
  • Help build and maintain TWG's AI tools and custom integrations: test workflows, connect systems through their APIs, document how they work, and support rollout to the team
  • Identify manual processes that can be automated, and help automate them
  • Work independently and with the team as needed. Follow ticket procedures, company policies and regulations, and perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in IT support, networking, low-voltage installation or security systems — or a relevant technical degree or certification with hands-on experience
  • Working knowledge of IP networking — addressing, subnetting, VLANs, switch configuration and PoE
  • Comfortable working in Windows and willing to learn Linux command-line administration
  • Familiarity with IP cameras, network video or access control hardware
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication
  • Self-directed learner. Our stack changes regularly; you should be willing to pick up unfamiliar platforms on your own
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites within ~2.5 hours of Emmaus, PA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: CompTIA Network+, A+, or CCNA
  • Low-voltage/structured cabling experience
  • Exposure to any of our platforms: Avigilon, Network Optix (Nx Witness), Verkada, Axis, Hanwha, Genea, or Software House
  • Ubuntu/Debian Linux; Peplink, Ubiquiti, or Aruba networking
  • Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 administration and endpoint management
  • Scripting/programming — Python or Bash, REST APIs, and workflow automation tools such as n8n or Zapier
  • Hands-on AI fluency — working use of Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini as real tools. Exposure to MCP (Model Context Protocol) or other AI-to-system integrations is a real differentiator here
  • A home lab or personal technical projects

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Regular and Timely Attendance
  • Full-time position with standard working hours
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time (up to 4 hours)
  • Comfortable using computers, tablets, and mobile applications as part of daily workflow
  • Must pass initial and random substance abuse tests & background checks

Compensation & Benefits

  • $55,000 – $65,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Benefits
  • Company 401k with a 100% match on the first 6% of contributions
  • Flexible vacation / paid time off (subject to company policy)
  • Paid manufacturer training and certifications
  • Professional development plan with a defined path to Physical Security Systems Engineer
  • Salary increases based on job performance, ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility, completion of relevant manufacturer certifications, and overall state of the company

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

Ability to Commute:

  • Emmaus, PA 18049 (Required)

Work Location: In person
