About this role
Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.
We're a consumer products company that owns and manages a portfolio of nationally recognized brands, and we're aiming to reach $500 million in revenue this year. Our products cover e-mobility, consumer electronics, outdoor power equipment, lawn and garden, cleaning and more, with global operations.
We're looking for an Industrial Designer to shape the next generation of our products, from electric scooters and e-bikes to battery-powered outdoor tools. You know product design inside and out! Sketching, 3D CAD, rendering and color, material and finish.
You create products that look great, are easy to use, and can actually be built at scale.
You'll lead industrial design for new products across our brands, with a strong focus on Jetson e-mobility. That means turning briefs into concepts, building CAD models and photorealistic renders, and working closely with product development, engineering and our overseas factories to take designs from first sketch to mass production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Turn product briefs into design concepts through research, sketching and ideation.
- Build 3D CAD models and photorealistic renders (KeyShot) for design reviews, sales presentations and marketing.
- Develop color, material and finish (CMF) direction that fits each brand.
- Design for manufacturing, working with engineering and factories on parting lines, materials, tolerances and cost.
- Create prototypes and mockups, and test designs for ergonomics, usability and rider experience.
- Prepare design files and specifications for factories, and review samples and production parts against the approved design.
- Refresh existing products and design new models and variations across categories.
- Design with safety and regulatory requirements in mind for battery-powered and e-mobility products.
- Support marketing and packaging teams with product renders and design details.
- Stay current on e-mobility, outdoor power equipment and consumer electronics design trends, materials and competitor products.
- Work closely with Product Development, Engineering, Brand, Marketing and Sourcing teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of industrial design experience with consumer products, ideally e-mobility, consumer electronics, sporting goods or outdoor power equipment.
- A strong portfolio showing products taken from concept through mass production.
- Strong sketching, 3D CAD and rendering skills.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, including plastic injection molding, metal and electronics housings.
- Experience working with overseas factories on samples, tooling and production.
- Strong CMF sense and attention to detail.
- Experience with e-mobility or battery-powered products is a strong plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
Tools & Skills:
- 3D CAD software
- KeyShot or similar rendering tools.
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- AI tools for concept exploration and visualization (a plus).
