About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java / AWS Software Engineer to join a leading media and technology organization. The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on engineer with deep expertise in modern Java development, cloud-native architecture, and end-to-end application delivery.
This role requires someone who can independently design, develop, optimize, deploy, and support scalable enterprise applications in AWS environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java 21, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
- Build robust RESTful APIs and backend services supporting complex business applications.
- Own the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Develop and deploy cloud-native applications using AWS services.
- Implement efficient multithreaded and concurrent processing solutions for high-performance applications.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, optimize application performance, and ensure production stability.
- Apply modern software engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Leverage AI-powered development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
- Explore opportunities to integrate AI capabilities into applications where appropriate.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams while independently driving technical solutions from concept to production.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, including modern Java features and preferably Java 21.
- Advanced knowledge of Java multithreading, concurrency, collections, JVM fundamentals, and performance optimization.
- Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, microservices, and REST API development.
- Hands-on experience developing, deploying, and supporting applications on AWS.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, application scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
- Demonstrated experience owning applications through the entire development lifecycle, including production deployment.
- Experience troubleshooting production issues, identifying bottlenecks, and improving system performance.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and API Gateway.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
- Familiarity with messaging and event-driven architectures such as Kafka or AWS messaging services.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar technologies.
- Exposure to integrating AI/LLM capabilities into enterprise applications.
- Experience building high-throughput, low-latency, or highly concurrent systems.
- Prior experience in media, streaming, digital platforms, or other high-volume enterprise environments.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are particularly interested in engineers who combine:
- Deep Java expertise: Strong command of Java internals, concurrency, and performance optimization.
- AWS proficiency: Proven ability to deploy and manage production applications in AWS.
- End-to-end ownership: Ability to take an application from initial concept through successful production launch.
- Hands-on engineering: Comfortable writing code, solving complex problems, and making technical decisions.
- Modern development mindset: Familiarity with AI-powered development tools and emerging engineering practices.
The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who can independently architect, build, deploy, and maintain production-grade applications—not simply someone who has worked on individual components of larger projects.
