  • Primarily on-site in Santa Clara, California
  • Flexible Work Arrangement: After the first 90 days of employment, employees may be eligible to work remotely up to one day per week, depending on individual performance, job responsibilities, and business needs.

About the Role

We are a growing food and beverage company with an expanding presence in the market. As our business continues to grow, we are strengthening our accounting and finance operations to better support our day-to-day operations and future expansion.

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Clara. This role will work closely with our internal team and play an important part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the accounting needs of our growing business.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in day-to-day accounting operations and is comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities including bank reconciliations, payroll, sales and use tax filings, AP/AR, general ledger maintenance, and month-end closing activities.

We are looking for someone who is organized, accountable, and able to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy. You should be proactive in identifying discrepancies, following through on responsibilities, and communicating effectively with both internal teams and external partners.

As the company continues to expand, this position will have opportunities to take on broader accounting responsibilities, improve internal processes, and grow alongside the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Process and review payroll and related payroll records
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns accurately and on time
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and post journal entries as needed
  • Manage and support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Reconcile balance sheet and other general ledger accounts
  • Review financial transactions for accuracy, proper classification, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain organized accounting records and ensure documentation is complete and audit-ready
  • Assist with cash flow tracking, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Prepare accounting and financial reports for management
  • Support tax, audit, licensing, and other regulatory or compliance-related filings as needed
  • Communicate with vendors, financial institutions, internal departments, and other business partners regarding accounting matters
  • Identify accounting discrepancies or process issues and proactively work toward resolution
  • Assist in improving accounting procedures, internal controls, and workflow efficiency
  • Perform other accounting-related responsibilities as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant accounting experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on accounting experience in the U.S. preferred
  • Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with payroll processing or payroll reconciliation
  • Experience preparing or filing sales and use tax returns
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data organization, and reconciliation work
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage deadlines and follow through on assigned responsibilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies independently
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–3+ years of accounting experience in a corporate or multi-location business environment
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience working with multi-location retail, restaurant, hospitality, franchise, or consumer businesses
  • Experience supporting audits, tax filings, business licenses, or other regulatory compliance requirements
  • Mandarin Chinese proficiency is strongly preferred due to regular communication with Mandarin-speaking vendors and internal team members

What We Value

Beyond technical accounting skills, we value team members who:

  • Take ownership of their responsibilities and follow through on commitments
  • Maintain accuracy and high-quality work even when managing multiple priorities
  • Communicate proactively when questions or issues arise
  • Are resourceful and willing to investigate problems rather than waiting for instructions
  • Stay organized and meet deadlines consistently
  • Are dependable, professional, and respectful when working with others
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes and work more efficiently
