About this role
We're a small, growing accounting firm on Cape Cod that specializes in restaurant and hospitality clients. We know the rhythm of this industry - daily sales, tip reporting, prime cost, vendor invoices that never stop and our clients count on us for clean, timely books they can actually use to run their business.
We're a small team, which means your work is visible, your judgment matters, and you'll build real relationships with the operators you serve.
As a Client Account Manager, you'll own the accounting for a portfolio of 10+ restaurant and hospitality clients from start to finish. You'll be each client's main point of contact for their bookkeeping, handle full-cycle accounting through month-end close, accruals, and financial statements, and work directly with owners, managers, and vendors to keep things accurate and on schedule.
What you'll do
- Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of 10+ restaurant and hospitality clients
- Complete month-end close for each client on schedule, including bank and credit card reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Prepare and record accruals & prepaids and maintain supporting schedules
- Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement and balance sheet), review them for accuracy and unusual variances, and deliver them to clients
- Prepare key restaurant reports such as prime cost, COGS, and labor percentage
- Reconcile daily sales, deposits, cash, and credit card batches between the POS system and the accounting software
- Oversee accounts payable: review vendor invoices, credits, and statements, and resolve discrepancies directly with vendors in a timely manner.
- Record payroll and tip activity in coordination with the client's payroll provider
- Serve as the primary contact for your clients - that means you will answer questions, explain results in plain language, and flag issues before they become problems
- Communicate professionally with vendors regarding invoices, payment status, and statement reconciliations
- Document client-specific procedures so work is consistent and easy to hand off
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and use our tools more effectively
What you'll bring
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping experience, including month-end close
- Restaurant or hospitality accounting experience required
- Hands-on experience preparing accruals and month-end adjusting entries
- Experience preparing monthly financial statements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred; an associate's degree or bookkeeping certification (e.g., CB or CPB) combined with strong experience will also be considered
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients or entities at once and meet recurring deadlines
- Strong working knowledge of accrual-basis accounting, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Confident, clear communication with clients and vendors, both written and verbal
- Proficiency with QuickBooks products and Excel/ Google Sheets
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Comfort working independently in a hybrid setting
Nice to have
- Experience with restaurant platforms such as Toast, Stripe, MarginEdge, Bill.com.
- Experience in an outsourced accounting, client accounting services (CAS), or multi-client firm environment
- Familiarity with multi-location restaurant groups
What we offer
- Hybrid schedule with work-from-home flexibility after in-office training
- 10 days PTO per year plus 6 paid holidays
- Earned sick time per Massachusetts, up to 40 hours per year
- Retirement plan (including employer match) after 6 months
- Professional development / certification support
- A small, supportive team that specializes in an industry we love
