About this role
Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Director, Retail Solutions & Product Management to lead the strategy, development, and business performance of our growing ELERA retail solutions portfolio. This portfolio includes enterprise retail software, Loss Prevention, Produce Recognition, video and computer vision solutions, vision analytics, and emerging AI-enabled retail and store-operations capabilities.
You will be responsible for parts of that solutions portfolio.
ELERA serves many of the world's top global retailers, along with hundreds of customers across grocery, hospitality, convenience, and specialty markets. This leader will shape the future of our retail solutions by translating customer needs, market opportunities, and emerging technologies into differentiated products that deliver measurable business value.
This is a senior product and business leadership position with ownership of portfolio strategy, financial performance, investment decisions, roadmap commitments, commercialization, and product lifecycle management.
The Director will lead and develop an experienced product management organization, establish clear priorities across competing business demands, and build strong partnerships with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Professional Services, Customer Success, Finance, and strategic partners.
The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with hands-on product leadership, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to make decisive business and product decisions while driving execution across a complex global organization.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Business Ownership
- Own the vision, strategy, roadmap, budget, and business performance of the ELERA retail solutions portfolio, including Security Suite capabilities and emerging retail technology offerings.
- Establish investment priorities and manage portfolio performance across revenue, ARR, adoption, expansion, gross margin, pipeline, pricing, and profitability.
- Balance competing priorities across customer commitments, platform compliance, active implementations, and strategic roadmap initiatives.
- Make decisions regarding scope, prioritization, resource allocation, and investment, ensuring commitments align with available engineering capacity and business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to expand into new market segments, adjacent retail verticals, and emerging technology areas.
- Establish business plans and performance metrics, communicate results, risks, and opportunities through executive business reviews.
Product Strategy & Development
- Lead the end-to-end product management lifecycle, from market research and customer discovery through product definition, validation, development, commercialization, and ongoing lifecycle management.
- Translate retailer challenges, market trends, and competitive insights into scalable product strategies and differentiated solutions.
- Drive customer discovery, rapid experimentation, prototyping, and validation before committing significant engineering resources.
- Establish a modern, hands-on product management operating model that emphasizes customer engagement, accountability, speed, and measurable outcomes.
- Lead product managers in defining product requirements, desired outcomes, scope, prioritization, and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure product decisions support scalable, repeatable solutions rather than one-off customer customizations.
- Drive innovation across enterprise retail software, loss prevention, produce recognition, computer vision, video analytics, AI/ML, and emerging store-operations use cases.
- Leverage AI-accelerated methods and emerging technologies to improve product discovery, decision-making, and product management effectiveness.
Customer & Market Leadership
- Own the Voice of the Customer strategy across the retail solutions portfolio, developing strong relationships with strategic retailers and enterprise customers.
- Engage directly with retail executives, loss prevention leaders, store operations, and technology organizations to understand business challenges and validate product direction.
- Ensure customer commitments and roadmap priorities are understood, appropriately prioritized, communicated, and delivered.
- Represent the portfolio with customers, strategic partners, industry analysts, and executive leadership.
- Translate customer feedback and market intelligence into portfolio-level decisions and scalable product opportunities.
- Build executive-level relationships while effectively navigating changing customer expectations and competing business priorities.
Commercialization & Go-to-Market Strategy
- Own product commercialization strategy in partnership with Sales, Marketing, and Technical Marketing.
- Define product positioning, pricing, packaging, target markets, use-case economics, and go-to-market strategies.
- Partner with Sales to support strategic customer opportunities while developing repeatable offerings that scale across the retail customer base.
- Drive portfolio growth through additional use cases, customer locations, devices, and product capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to increase recurring software revenue, customer adoption, retention, and overall portfolio profitability.
- Ensure product investments align with market demand, competitive positioning, and long-term business objectives.
Cross-Functional Execution & Engineering Partnership
- Own the working relationship between Product Management and Engineering, ensuring product strategy translates into executable development plans and delivered capabilities.
- Partner with Engineering on roadmap commitments, scope, capacity, dependencies, change control, and release acceptance.
- Establish clear product priorities and work with Engineering to resolve tradeoffs between customer commitments, technical requirements, and strategic initiatives.
- Represent the portfolio in release planning, program increment planning, and business execution reviews.
- Maintain involvement throughout development and delivery, providing product direction and ensuring solutions meet intended business outcomes.
- Partner with Engineering, Professional Services, Customer Success, and program teams on major customer opportunities, statements of work, product alignment, and user acceptance testing.
- Protect the integrity and scalability of the core product roadmap while addressing critical customer and market requirements.
- Coordinate across Sales, Finance, Innovation, Marketing, and strategic partners to ensure alignment from product concept through commercialization.
Organizational & People Leadership
- Lead, develop, and grow a high-performing product management organization, providing strategic direction and day-to-day leadership through product management leaders and managers.
- Establish clear organizational objectives, accountability, operating cadences, and performance expectations.
- Coach and mentor product managers in customer engagement, product strategy, prioritization, business decision-making, and executive communication.
- Maintain full people leadership responsibilities, including hiring, performance management, career development, regular one-on-ones, and organizational development.
- Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

- Experience building strong working relationships across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Professional Services, Customer Success, Finance, and other partner organizations.
- Strong customer-facing and executive communication skills, including experience managing relationships with large enterprise customers and strategic partners.
- Hands-on product leadership experience involving customer discovery, experimentation, rapid prototyping, product validation, and product acceptance.
- Technical fluency across modern enterprise software, SaaS, APIs, cloud and edge architectures, AI/ML, and computer vision sufficient to partner effectively with engineering and architecture teams.
- Demonstrated use of AI-accelerated methods in product management, with the ability to adapt to emerging tools and technologies.
- Ability to operate effectively in complex, global organizations, establish leadership credibility, navigate ambiguity, and drive decisions through influence and accountability.
