About this role

About the Company

Setlog is a camera-first social app designed to help people share everyday moments and stay connected with friends. The platform has millions of daily users across East Asia, with its largest communities in Japan and South Korea. As Setlog begins expanding into the United States, the team is focused on creating a more playful and engaging way for people to capture and share everyday life.

About the Role

Setlog is looking for a Product Designer to help shape the future of its consumer product. You will own design across core product experiences, from early concepts and exploration through polished, shipped solutions. Working closely with the founder and engineering team, you will help define product direction, make design decisions, and turn emerging opportunities into experiences that feel natural, expressive, and enjoyable.

This role is suited to a designer who combines strong creative judgment with practical execution, works comfortably in an evolving environment, and is motivated to influence an early-stage product. You will have the opportunity to contribute across a broad range of design challenges while helping shape how people communicate and connect through Setlog.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the design of core product experiences, from initial ideas through final implementation and release.
  • Work closely with the founder and engineering team to shape product direction and make informed product decisions.
  • Translate ambiguous problems, user feedback, and emerging opportunities into clear, thoughtful user experiences.
  • Design interactions, user flows, visual systems, and prototypes that make everyday communication more natural, expressive, and fun.
  • Balance rapid exploration with careful execution, knowing when to consider multiple approaches and when to make decisions and move forward.
  • Maintain high design standards while delivering work that supports the product's evolving priorities.
  • Consider how design decisions influence user behavior, connection, engagement, and retention.
  • Contribute ideas that improve the overall product experience and communicate design thinking clearly to the team.
  • Collaborate across responsibilities in a small team, contributing wherever needed to move the product forward.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong product design skills supported by a portfolio demonstrating sound design judgment and high-quality execution.
  • A thoughtful understanding of user needs and the ways product decisions shape behavior and engagement.
  • Proactive working style, responsiveness, and a willingness to take ownership of design work.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and adapt as priorities and ideas evolve.
  • Ability to understand broader product and company goals while paying close attention to interaction and visual details.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain ideas clearly and translate them into effective designs.
  • Comfort working in a small team where responsibilities extend beyond a narrowly defined role.
