The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer position offers a wide range of responsibilities including designing, implementing, and supporting complex IT infrastructure solutions for WCA's clients. Projects can range from advanced server, storage, virtualization, and cloud deployments to large-scale infrastructure initiatives requiring strong technical expertise, efficiency, and attention to detail.
The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer will provide technical leadership, serve as an escalation point for advanced support issues, and work across a variety of technologies including Microsoft, VMware, storage, and cloud platforms to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement infrastructure solutions including Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization (Nutanix/VMware/Hyper-V), storage, networking, and cloud (Azure/M365).
- Lead or contribute to infrastructure projects such as server migrations, network upgrades, cloud transitions, and data center deployments.
- Provide tier 3 escalation support for complex issues across managed environments.
- Collaborate with project managers, sales engineers, and clients to define technical scope and ensure successful project delivery.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, diagrams, and deployment guides.
- Participate in technical planning, client roadmapping, and lifecycle recommendations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate tools for client and internal use.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure engineering, preferably within an MSP, VAR, or enterprise environment.
- Deep expertise with Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
- Strong experience with virtualization platforms (Nutanix,VMware vSphere, Hyper-V), networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls), and storage (SAN/NAS).
- Familiarity with cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure, Azure AD, Intune, and Exchange Online.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across infrastructure layers.
- Excellent client-facing communication, project coordination, and documentation abilities.
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), VMware (VCP), Nutanix (NCP), or Aruba/Extreme/Fortinet Networking strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field preferred.
