About Us:
Thesus Health is a late-stage healthcare startup building a next-generation telehealth platform with integrated medical devices. We’re a small, motivated team working hands-on to solve real problems in medication management and patient care. If you like building things from scratch and seeing your work directly shape a product, you’ll fit right in.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Industrial Designer to take a key role in designing and developing the internal mechanics of a smart pill dispenser. This is a highly hands-on position where you’ll be prototyping, testing, iterating, and collaborating closely with software and hardware teammates.
Please note this position is for a total term of 3 months, with compensation totaling $30,000 - $37,500, with the opportunity for an easy transition to a long-term, full-time position. We are not offering compensation for relocation at this time.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and develop internal mechanical systems for a pill dispensing device
- Create and iterate parts using CAD, CAM, and CMM tools
- Build and modify prototypes using 3D printers, including mechanical system upgrades
- Replace or adapt 3D printer vacuum heads with Pick-and-Place mechanisms
- Develop control algorithms to dispense from 16 independent locations within the device
- Write and optimize G-code scripts, for CNC machines
- Troubleshoot mechanical, motion, and alignment issues during prototyping
- Work closely with software, electrical, and product teams in an agile, startup environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Senior-level experience in mechanical engineering or industrial design
- Strong hands-on experience with CAD, CAM, and CMM
- Experience working with 3D printing beyond basic use (modifications, optimization, custom setups)
- Familiarity with Pick-and-Place systems or automated motion systems
- Ability to write algorithms for microcontrollers
- Experience writing G-code for CNC equipment
- Experience in translating loosely defined goals into concrete engineering solutions
- Bonus: experience in medical devices, robotics, automation, or precision hardware
Location & Schedule:
- Our headquarters is located in Fairfax, VA, near the Mosaic District, just outside the Beltway
- This role is on-site to support hands-on design and testing
- Limited remote flexibility may be available for specific situations
Why Join Thesus Health?
- Build real hardware that impacts patient care
- Work closely with founders and decision-makers
- High ownership and influence over product design
- Fast-paced, collaborative startup environment
- Opportunity to grow with the company as the product scales
- Equity opportunity is included
