Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Occupational Therapist role based in New York, NY. The Occupational Therapist will provide direct services to students, including evaluations, treatment planning, and individualized and small-group interventions to support sensory regulation, fine and gross motor skills, functional daily living skills, and school participation.
The role includes collaborating closely with teachers, related service providers, and mental health professionals to integrate therapeutic strategies into the classroom and broader school environment. The Occupational Therapist will maintain accurate documentation, participate in IEP meetings, communicate regularly with families and caregivers, and contribute to school-wide initiatives that support the whole child.
The position also involves ongoing professional development and active participation in team meetings, consultations, and crisis support as needed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Occupational Therapy, including evaluation, intervention planning, and school-based practice.
- Knowledge of Pediatrics and child development, especially for students with behavioral, sensory, or developmental needs.
- Understanding of Rehabilitation principles and functional skill-building to support participation in school and daily activities.
- Strong Communication skills for collaborative work with interdisciplinary teams, students, and families.
- Relevant licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in New York State.
- Experience in special education or therapeutic school settings is highly beneficial.
- Ability to build trusting, trauma-informed relationships and work with empathy and cultural responsiveness.
- Organizational skills for managing caseloads, documentation, and scheduling in a dynamic school environment.
