ABOUT THE ROLE

The Shirley Aninias School (SAS) is a private, 12-month, behavior-based elementary program serving neurodiverse students ages 4–13. We build highly individualized programs around each child's academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs, and our supports are integrated throughout the school day so students succeed across settings. We're seeking a caring, organized Registered Nurse to lead our school health office.

The School Nurse provides day-to-day nursing care, manages medications and health records, writes and carries out individual health plans, and partners with teachers, our on-staff BCBA, and related service providers so that each student's health needs are met throughout the school day. We are open to a 40-hour or 30-hour schedule; both include our full benefits package.

This role reports to the Assistant Principal and will have a start time between 7:30am and 8:30am based on scheduled hours.

Records & Compliance

Maintain accurate, confidential student health records, including physicals, immunizations, and medication logs

Track and support compliance with NYS and NYC immunization and health-documentation requirements

Conduct required health screenings and make referrals to families and outside providers

Document injuries and health incidents promptly and accurately

Staff Training & Communication

Train staff on emergency medications (e.g., epinephrine auto-injectors), allergy and seizure response, and health protocols

Support staff training in First Aid/CPR and infection-control practices

Communicate regularly with families about health concerns, medication needs, and follow-up care

Monitor communicable illness and advise administration on health and safety measures
