Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OTR) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

The Openshaw Spot is seeking an OTR or COTA to join our pediatric team in Ellsworth, Maine. If you enjoy helping children develop independence, partnering with families, and bringing creativity to treatment, we would love to meet you.
We are a therapist-owned practice providing occupational and speech therapy to children and young adults. Our goal is to make meaningful progress in everyday life while creating a workplace where clinicians feel supported, connected, and encouraged to grow.
Position Details
- Location: Ellsworth, Maine
- Employment type: Work as little or as much as you want
- OTR compensation: $35-$45 an hour dependent on experience
- COTA compensation: $30-$35 an hour dependent on experience.
- Compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities
- Provide individualized, purposeful pediatric occupational therapy services within your scope of practice.
- Help children build skills for play, school participation, feeding, dressing, handwriting, and daily routines.
- Address sensory processing and emotional regulation needs as they affect everyday participation.
- Educate caregivers and develop practical home strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues and communicate progress, concerns, and treatment needs.
- Complete accurate, timely documentation.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized treatment environment.
OTR responsibilities also include evaluations, treatment planning, reassessments, and COTA supervision as assigned.
COTA responsibilities include implementing established treatment plans under OTR supervision, documenting responses to intervention, and contributing observations to ongoing care.
Qualifications
- Appropriate occupational therapy education and credentials for the position.
- Active Maine licensure before providing clinical services.
- Interest in pediatric and family-centered care.
- Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and follow-through.
- Willingness to collaborate, receive feedback, and continue learning.
Pediatric experience is valued. New graduates are welcome to inquire about available mentorship and supervision.
