Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OTR)

The Openshaw Spot is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our pediatric team in Milbridge, Maine. If you enjoy helping children develop independence, partnering with families, and bringing creativity to treatment, we would love to meet you.

We are a therapist-owned practice providing occupational and speech therapy to children and young adults. Our goal is to make meaningful progress in everyday life while creating a workplace where clinicians feel supported, connected, and encouraged to grow.

Position Details

  • Location: Milbridge, Maine
  • Employment type: Flexible hours—work as little or as much as you want.
  • Compensation: $35–$45 per hour (for OTR), depending on experience and qualifications.
  • COTAs encouraged to apply with pay starting at $30 an hour.

Responsibilities

  • Complete pediatric occupational therapy evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide engaging, purposeful interventions that support functional skills and everyday participation.
  • Help children build skills for play, school participation, feeding, dressing, handwriting, and daily routines.
  • Address sensory processing and emotional regulation needs as they affect everyday participation.
  • Partner with caregivers to develop practical strategies for home and community routines.
  • Monitor progress, complete reassessments, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide COTA supervision as assigned.
  • Collaborate with speech-language pathologists and other members of the child’s care team.
  • Complete accurate, timely documentation.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized treatment environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
  • OTR certification and active Maine occupational therapy licensure before providing clinical services.
  • Interest in pediatric and family-centered care.
  • Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and follow-through.
  • Willingness to collaborate, receive feedback, and continue learning.

Pediatric experience is valued. New graduates are welcome to inquire about available mentorship and support.
