About this role

Jay Group, a 3PL providing ecommerce order fulfillment to high-growth start-ups and Fortune 500 companies, is seeking a Product Manager/Product Owner (PM/PO) to lead product for one of our dedicated engineering teams.

This is a hybrid role: you own both the why and the what. You set product direction for your team's area, then translate that direction into a prioritized, ready-to-build backlog. You are the single product voice for your team, from customer discovery through sprint acceptance and release.

Our engineering teams practice AI-driven development

AI coding assistants and agents help write, test and review code, which shortens the path from idea to working software. In this environment, the quality and clarity of product intent is the main constraint on speed. You will write requirements that both engineers and AI tools can act on, use AI to accelerate your own discovery and analysis, and keep a high bar for what we ship to our customers and warehouse operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to the items listed below.

Product strategy and discovery

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for your team's area, aligned with company strategy, the department's product priorities, and market needs.
  • Interview customers and internal stakeholders (operations, client services, sales) to understand business goals and translate them into software requirements.
  • Perform market and competitive research to find opportunities to differentiate Jay Group offerings or close competitive gaps.
  • Use AI tools to speed up discovery: synthesizing interview notes, analyzing usage and operational data, and drafting options for evaluation.
  • Define success measures for each initiative and track whether delivered features achieve them.

Backlog ownership and delivery

  • Own and manage the team's product backlog, ensuring items are well-defined, prioritized and ready for development.
  • Write clear product backlog items (PBIs) with explicit acceptance criteria, business rules and edge cases, structured so that engineers and AI development tools can execute against them with minimal back-and-forth.
  • Prioritize based on business value, customer impact, cost and technical constraints, making tradeoffs between scope, schedule and capacity.
  • Lead backlog grooming and refinement sessions, and partner with engineering in sprint planning and execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the scrum team, providing direction, clarifications and acceptance decisions.
  • Validate that completed work meets acceptance criteria and delivers the intended outcome before it is accepted.

AI-driven development

  • Partner with engineering to take advantage of AI-accelerated delivery: break work into smaller, faster increments, and use rapid prototypes to validate ideas before full builds.
  • Use AI-generated prototypes, specs and test scenarios to shorten feedback loops with customers and stakeholders.
  • Apply sound judgment to AI output: review generated artifacts for accuracy, completeness and business fit, and keep a human accountable for every product decision.
  • Help the team identify where AI can be built into our products and internal workflows to create value for clients and warehouse operations.

Release and stakeholder management

  • Plan and manage releases of new products and features in coordination with engineering, operations and client-facing teams.
  • Communicate roadmap, progress and tradeoffs to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with other PM/POs across the department to manage cross-team dependencies and keep priorities aligned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or combined PM/PO role.
  • Proven ability to own a product area end to end, from strategy and roadmap through backlog and delivery.
  • Strong experience writing detailed PBIs and acceptance criteria, and managing and prioritizing a backlog.
  • Hands-on experience in a high-functioning Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Hands-on use of AI tools (for example, generative AI assistants) in your own product work, and comfort working with engineering teams that use AI coding tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage, thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Passion for solving business problems through technology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in logistics, fulfillment, or warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Experience with AI-assisted or agentic software development workflows, or with building AI features into products.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence).

Benefits

  • 401K
  • Health, dental and vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Short- and long-term disability insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Paid time off and paid holiday hours
