Software Developer (C++/C#) - Market Research Software

The Analytical Group, Inc. is the developer of **WinCross®**, a long\-established crosstabulation and data\-processing application used throughout the market research industry.

For decades, WinCross has helped researchers, analysts, and data professionals process complex survey data, perform statistical significance testing, and generate high\-performance analytical tables.

**The Role**

We are seeking a full\-time **Software Developer** to help develop, maintain, and modernize WinCross, our flagship Windows desktop application.

WinCross is primarily written in **C\+\+**, with a large and mature codebase developed over many years. We are also actively evaluating modernization opportunities, including selective adoption of C\#, . NET, modern development practices, and AI\-assisted software development.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys understanding complex existing systems while also helping determine how those systems should evolve.

Because we are a smaller development team, this is not a role where you simply receive a ticket, write code, and move on. We want someone who asks questions, understands the problem being solved, communicates when something is not going as expected, and takes responsibility for delivering quality work.

**What You’ll Do**

• Develop new features and enhancements for WinCross
• Maintain and improve a large, mature C\+\+ Windows application
• Investigate and resolve bugs, performance issues, and customer\-reported problems
• Work with C\#, .NET, and other technologies as we continue modernizing portions of the application
• Help evaluate architectural improvements and modernization strategies
• Write clean, maintainable, and well\-tested code
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and release preparation
• Use modern AI development tools to assist with coding, debugging, research, documentation, testing, and problem solving
• Learn unfamiliar areas of the codebase and independently research solutions when necessary
• Clearly communicate project status, technical challenges, risks, and unexpected delays
• Take ownership of assigned projects from initial discussion through completion

We expect our developers to be comfortable using AI tools to improve productivity.

• Understanding unfamiliar code
• Researching APIs and development approaches
• Generating or reviewing code
• Debugging difficult problems
• Creating unit and regression tests
• Refactoring existing functionality
• Writing documentation
• Exploring alternative implementations

We are especially interested in developers who are curious about how AI can make an experienced development team faster and more effective.

**Required Qualifications**

• Strong software development experience with **C\+\+ and/or C\#**
• Strong problem\-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to read and understand an existing codebase
• Comfortable modifying mature or long\-lived software
• Ability to independently research unfamiliar technical problems
• Strong attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Ability to manage assignments and meet agreed\-upon deadlines
• Comfortable using or learning modern AI\-assisted development tools

Job Type: Full\-time

Pay: $40,000\. 00 \- $80,000\. 00 per year
