Software Engineer, Architecture Review Board

**What to Expect**

You will join Tesla’s Architecture Review Board (ARB) and help set the bar for how software is designed, reviewed, and shipped. ARB is the governance layer that evaluates proposed solutions before they become production systems. You would be responsible for checking that solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with Tesla standards.

This is not a pure design\-on\-paper role. You will sit at the intersection of engineering, security, operations, and the business. You will review real architectures under real deadlines, push back when a design will not hold, and help teams land a path that still ships.

Success means better systems across Tesla’s products and internal platforms and fewer surprises after go\-live.

**What You'll Do*** Participate in and contribute to Architecture Review Board reviews of proposed designs for consistency, scalability, security, performance, operability, and alignment with Tesla standards

• Assess system designs end\-to\-end: service boundaries, data flows, identity and access, failure modes, capacity, observability, and operational ownership
• Challenge incomplete or high\-risk proposals, and work with teams to close gaps without becoming a blocker to delivery
• Negotiate across Tesla business groups with aggressive timelines balancing product and operational needs against architecture, security, and reliability requirements
• Educate teams on best practices for generative AI, data privacy and security, CI/CD, and general software application design
• Help teams apply Tesla’s architecture patterns and standards, and feed lessons from reviews back into those standards
• Present findings and recommendations to engineers, architects, and non\-technical stakeholders; make the decision and the tradeoffs clear
• Build working relationships across product, platform, security, and operations so reviews are informed by how systems actually run, not only how they are drawn

**What You'll Bring*** Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

• 5\+ years in software architecture, with proven involvement in an architecture review board or similar design\-governance process
• Strong expertise in system design, microservices, and cloud platforms; fluency with distributed systems tradeoffs (consistency, latency, failure isolation, cost, and operability)
• Hands\-on familiarity with generative AI in production or near\-production contexts — including data handling, model/service integration, evaluation, and risk
• Working knowledge of security and privacy fundamentals: threat modeling, least privilege, secrets, data classification, and secure SDLC practices
• Experience with CI/CD and modern delivery: automated testing, deployment pipelines, rollback, and production readiness
• Excellent communication skills: you can influence design decisions, present architectures to mixed audiences, and explain why a recommendation exists
• Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizations, negotiate conflicting priorities, and communicate how decisions get made not only the decision itself

#### **Expected Compensation**

$140,000 \- $210,000/annual salary \+ cash and stock awards \+ benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job\-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
