Mechanical Designer
Onsite | Full-time, Direct Hire
$70,000–$85,000 per year
TES Recruiting is partnering with an industrial equipment manufacturer to hire a Mechanical Designer for its Sales Applications Engineering team.
This role develops equipment layouts and production-line concepts based on customer requirements. You’ll work with sales, engineering, and manufacturing to create practical designs that account for available space, equipment integration, material flow, and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual designs and equipment layouts for integrated processing and production lines.
- Use AutoCAD to prepare and revise equipment and system layouts.
- Create 3D parametric models using SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Develop assemblies and system configurations that support equipment integration and layout planning.
- Coordinate with sales, engineering, and manufacturing to align designs with company capabilities, cost targets, safety requirements, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate design documentation, configurations, and revision control.
- Support the handoff of approved concepts from proposals into detailed engineering and project execution.
Qualifications
- At least
3 years of professional experience
in mechanical design, industrial design, applications engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with industrial equipment, machinery, processing systems, or integrated production-line layouts.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and
SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor
, including assembly management and configurations.
- Understanding of equipment layout, material handling, system integration, accessibility, safety, and manufacturability.
- Ability to translate customer specifications into clear, practical design concepts.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across sales and technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, or a closely related field preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Conveyors, material handling, packaging equipment, or automated production systems.
- Sales applications, proposal development, or customer-facing mechanical design.
- Food and beverage processing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or bulk-material-handling equipment.
- PLM systems and design automation tools.
Position Details

- Onsite in Plano, Texas.
- Base salary of
$70,000–$85,000 per year
