About this role
We’re partnering with a growing technology company in the financial services space to hire a Lead DevOps / SRE Engineer who will play a key role in building, scaling, and improving its cloud infrastructure. This is an opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, shaping architectural decisions, and building reliable systems in a fast-moving environment.
You’ll work closely with senior architects and engineering teams to evolve the infrastructure, improve deployment processes, and support the company’s next phase of growth.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and enhance scalable cloud infrastructure within AWS.
- Lead Kubernetes infrastructure development as the organization continues expanding its containerized environment.
- Develop and improve deployment pipelines, GitOps workflows, and infrastructure automation.
- Collaborate with software engineers and architects on infrastructure design, system reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Identify opportunities to improve deployment speed, system resilience, and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate existing infrastructure and recommend improvements to architecture, configuration, and engineering practices.
- Help lead the evolution toward a multi-region AWS architecture, including implementing a warm-standby disaster recovery environment.
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and Terragrunt.
- Troubleshoot complex deployment and infrastructure issues while establishing sound SRE and cloud engineering practices.
What We’re Looking For
Strong AWS experience: A deep understanding of AWS services, cloud architecture, and building production-grade infrastructure.
Strong Kubernetes experience
Hands-on experience building, configuring, and operating Kubernetes environments.
Python proficiency
Experience writing scripts and automation to improve infrastructure management and engineering workflows. Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and deployment strategies. Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience, ideally with Terraform and Terragrunt.
The ability to contribute to system design discussions, evaluate technical trade-offs, and recommend practical solutions. A track record of building and improving infrastructure, rather than exclusively maintaining existing environments. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance rapid delivery with thoughtful engineering decisions.
Nice to Have Experience with Argo CD, particularly configuring and troubleshooting deployments. Experience designing multi-region architectures, disaster recovery strategies, or large-scale cloud migrations. A background in SRE, production reliability, security, or regulated technology environments.
Familiarity with deploying Java/Spring applications in containerized environments. Experience working in a high-growth technology company or a mature fintech environment. Why Consider This Opportunity?
Meaningful technical ownership
Help shape infrastructure architecture and engineering standards.
High-impact projects
Take a leading role in expanding a production environment toward multi-region resilience.
Collaborative engineering culture
Work alongside experienced architects and engineers who value technical expertise and practical problem-solving. Competitive compensation Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) contributions, HSA benefits, and unlimited PTO. The preferred arrangement is hybrid, with three days onsite Tuesday through Thursday in McLean, Virginia, or Wilmington, North Carolina.
Remote candidates may be considered. If you’re a hands-on cloud and infrastructure engineer ready to take ownership of meaningful technical initiatives, we’d welcome the opportunity to connect. Apply directly or reach out to learn more.
