### **Staff Mechanical Systems Engineer — Design\-for\-Manufacture Lead**
**Location:** Onsite
### **A day in this role**
Your morning starts with a quick sync between mechanical and electrical design. By mid\-morning, you’re on the production floor, translating design intent into buildable reality—reviewing fixtures, walking an assembly cell, and hosting a DFM/DFA conversation that shaves minutes off takt time. After lunch, you jump into a prototype fit check, tweak a CAD model, and coordinate a rapid rework to validate a tolerance stack.
You close the day by capturing lessons learned in the PLM system so the next iteration is smarter, simpler, and ready for scale.
### **How you’ll contribute**
- Own the development of mechanical components and electromechanical assemblies from first concept through production, then continue with post‑launch cost and quality improvements.
- Act as the nexus between design engineering and factory operations, ensuring design decisions align with real manufacturing capabilities and line requirements.
- Lead DFM/DFA reviews to elevate manufacturability, assembly efficiency, ergonomics, automation readiness, and in\-field serviceability.
- Roll up your sleeves during prototype builds—run fit checks, perform rework, leverage rapid prototyping, execute tests, troubleshoot issues, and resolve manufacturing blockers.
- Partner closely with technicians and cross‑functional engineers to build and validate early prototypes against aggressive development timelines.
- Capture and formalize manufacturing feedback, lessons learned, and design updates to drive continuous refinement and stronger future designs.
### **What you bring**
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- 7\+ years of hands‑on product development for high‑volume electromechanical products.
- Deep mechanical fundamentals plus working knowledge of electrical systems and electro‑mechanical integration.
- Background designing/supporting wire harnesses, busbars, sensors, control panels, plastic parts, sheet‑metal components, and PCBA‑related assemblies.
- Fluency with modern 3D CAD, PLM, formal engineering documentation, and BOM control.
- Exceptional problem‑solving, communication, and organization; able to juggle multiple priorities on a fast‑paced production floor.
### **Preferred qualifications**
- GD\&T application, tolerance stack analysis, and experience with high‑volume manufacturing processes.
- Time spent in process/manufacturing engineering or direct production support.
- Exposure to battery systems, high‑voltage products, or similarly complex electromechanical platforms.
- Familiarity with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Experience with rapid prototyping, design validation, root‑cause analysis, and production ramp.
