About the Manufacturing Company / The Opportunity:
A leader in the building supply industry is looking for a Product Manager to guide product strategy and execution across the full lifecycle. This role offers the chance to shape consumer-facing and engineered products by aligning market insights, engineering, and commercial teams to deliver differentiated, manufacturable solutions.
The position is hands-on and cross-functional, well suited to candidates who combine product vision with manufacturing and engineering collaboration to drive time-to-market and product success.
Responsibilities:
- Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned to business objectives and market needs.
- Gather, prioritize, and translate customer, market, and stakeholder requirements into clear product specifications.
- Lead new product development (NPD) efforts from concept through commercialization, coordinating engineering, design, manufacturing, marketing, and sales.
- Conduct market and competitive analysis and incorporate voice-of-customer insights to inform product direction and differentiation.
- Manage product release planning, timelines, budgets, and milestone tracking to ensure on-time launches.
- Develop and monitor KPIs and product performance metrics; iterate strategy based on results and feedback.
- Prepare and present product requirements, progress reports, and business cases to stakeholders and leadership.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, design reviews, and manufacturing handoffs to ensure product quality and manufacturability.
Must-Have Skills:
- Proven product management experience in manufacturing, industrial, or durable goods environments.
- Expertise in full product lifecycle and new product development (NPD) processes.
- Strong skills in requirements gathering, product specifications, and stakeholder communication.
- Experience working closely with engineering (design, manufacturing, R&D) to deliver manufacturable products.
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage product roadmaps, backlogs, prioritization, and release planning—familiarity with Agile/Scrum is required.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Project; advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills for analysis and presentations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field and hands-on product management experience in manufacturing.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Certified Product Manager (CPM) or Agile Certified Product Manager and Product Owner (ACPMPO).
- Master’s degree in Business, Product Management, or Engineering.
- Experience with product commercialization and go-to-market planning for consumer or building products.
- Familiarity with manufacturing operations, quality systems, and cost-to-manufacture considerations.
- Background in product portfolio management, strategic planning, and business case development.
