Job description
About this role
Electrical Engineer – High Impact PCB Design Role (Bothell, WA)
We're partnering with a well established, growth oriented medical device company that designs and manufactures therapeutic ultrasound systems, seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Bothell, Washington team.
This is not a typical engineering role, it's a high impact opportunity designed to create immediate value by placing true ownership of PCB and PCBA design in the hands of the right person.
What You'll Do
- Own PCB/PCBA design end to end (schematic capture, layout, prototype bring-up, design reviews)
- Oversee production of outsourced PCBs and resolve build issues with manufacturing vendors
- Debug prototype and production hardware at the board and system level
- Develop test fixtures and bench methods for hardware characterization
- Build and maintain quality documentation (ECOs, BOMs, travelers, work instructions) as the company advances toward ISO 13485
- Mentor 1–2 junior electrical engineers and partner closely with the Director of Technology
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field
- 4+ years of electrical engineering experience (7+ years preferred)
- Hands-on PCB/PCBA design experience, including schematic capture and layout of boards you have built
- Experience with quality documentation (ECOs, BOMs, travelers, work instructions)
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including analog and mixed-signal debugging, board bring-up, and root-cause troubleshooting
- Proven ability to own projects independently and drive them forward without waiting for direction
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative style in a close-knit technical team
- Scripting experience for test automation or data analysis (Python, MATLAB, or similar such as TCL/Tk) is a plus; interest in learning matters more than a specific language
- Altium experience is a plus (OrCAD and Allegro also welcome)
- Cable/wire harness design experience is a plus
- Experience in ultrasound, medical devices, or adjacent fields such as laser/optics is a plus
- Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 or ISO 13485 environments is a plus
Why This Role Stands Out
- Immediate ownership of PCB/PCBA design on cutting-edge ultrasound technology
- Clear path to ECO sign-off authority and technical leadership
- Direct exposure to senior engineering leadership and the chance to mentor junior engineers
- Opportunity to help shape quality processes ahead of ISO 13485 certification
Compensation
- From $135K–$165K base on experience
- Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, and fitness reimbursement up to $600 per year
Location
- Onsite in Bothell, Washington (about 30 minutes from Seattle), core hours 9 am–3 pm with flexibility
- Optional 4x10 schedule (an extra Friday off every other week)
- Open to candidates relocating to the Seattle area (no formal relocation package)
Who Thrives Here
- Engineers who want ownership, not just execution
- Professionals comfortable working hands-on in a close-knit technical team
- Individuals motivated by learning, mentoring, and growth
