The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to take ownership of key areas of product development and contribute across the application stack. You’ll work across frontend experiences, backend services, data models and shared application infrastructure.

Rather than operating within a narrowly defined technical function, you’ll have the opportunity to understand how different parts of the platform interact and take features from initial design through to production. The environment is built around a modern, strongly typed web technology stack, with an emphasis on reusable components, reliable APIs and consistency between frontend and backend systems.

The team values clear contracts, maintainable architecture and engineering practices that allow developers to move quickly without sacrificing reliability. A significant part of the challenge lies in managing complexity. Data can be inconsistent, requirements evolve, external systems behave differently and workflows rarely follow a perfectly predictable path.

You’ll help design software that accounts for these realities rather than relying on assumptions that break as the product scales. The ideal candidate enjoys solving practical engineering problems, understands the trade-offs behind architectural decisions and is comfortable balancing immediate product needs with long-term technical quality.

What You’ll Do

Build end-to-end product features: Develop intuitive user experiences and the underlying services, APIs and data structures that support them.

Develop reliable backend systems

Design and implement application services, integrations and API interfaces that support core product functionality.

Design and optimise data models

Structure complex application data, improve query performance and ensure systems remain efficient as usage and data volumes increase.

Contribute to technical architecture

Help shape application structure, shared components, internal tooling and the foundations used across the wider platform.

Own delivery through production

Take responsibility for features from initial technical design through implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance.

Improve performance and reliability

Identify bottlenecks, investigate production issues and implement improvements across the application stack.

Work with complex integrations

Connect internal services with external platforms while maintaining consistency, reliability and data integrity.

Improve an established codebase

Refactor and strengthen existing systems incrementally, making considered improvements without introducing unnecessary complexity.

Collaborate on product decisions

Work closely with engineering and product colleagues to translate business challenges into practical technical solutions.

Influence engineering standards

Contribute to discussions around architecture, development practices, testing and the long-term maintainability of the platform.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping production web applications.
• Strong experience with TypeScript or a comparable modern programming language used across application layers.
• Commercial frontend development experience with a modern component-based framework.
• Backend development experience using Node.js or a comparable server-side technology.
• Experience working with document-oriented or relational databases, including data modelling, indexing and query optimisation.
• A solid understanding of API design, application architecture and communication between frontend and backend systems.
• Experience building applications that handle complex data and evolving business requirements.
• The ability to recognise performance issues and understand how early architectural decisions affect systems as they grow.
• Experience working within an established, substantial codebase and improving it without defaulting to a complete rewrite.
• Confidence taking ownership of features and driving them from initial requirements through to production.
• Strong engineering judgement, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs and challenge existing approaches where appropriate.
• A pragmatic mindset that balances speed of delivery, maintainability and product quality.
