Job description

About this role

Company Description TableIQ transforms existing restaurant security cameras into an AI-powered operations platform that reveals what happens between the kitchen and the table. Using a vision-language model pipeline, the company analyzes video from cameras restaurants already own to track service timing, staffing patterns, food waste, and workflow bottlenecks.

Operators receive automated daily summaries and SMS alerts that integrate directly into standups and coaching sessions, delivering camera-to-insight in minutes with no new hardware or manual review. TableIQ serves multi-unit restaurants in San Antonio, Austin, and New York City and is expanding into retail, grocery, and other camera-enabled businesses.

The company is headquartered in Boston and processes hundreds of video clips daily across multiple cameras per location. Role Description The Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain back-end services that power TableIQ’s AI-driven analytics platform, including APIs, data pipelines, and integrations with camera systems and restaurant operations tools.

Responsibilities include implementing scalable and secure software solutions, optimizing performance for high-volume video and event data, and collaborating with product and AI teams to ship features from concept to production. The role involves writing clean, well-documented code, participating in code reviews, and troubleshooting production issues to ensure reliability and uptime.

The Software Engineer will also contribute to architecture decisions, tool selection, and continuous improvement of development practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

  • Hands-on experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and designing maintainable, modular codebases.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD workflows.
  • Ability to work on-site in Fremont, CA and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with video processing, real-time systems, or data-intensive applications in production environments is a plus.
