About this role
Principal Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design and development of inverter platforms in the 1 kW to 100 kW range. This is a senior technical leadership position with ownership of architecture decisions from concept through production release. You will define topology and control strategy, guide hardware and firmware teams, and serve as the technical authority on power conversion across the program.
Responsibilities
Lead the architecture and design of three-phase inverters from 10 kW to 100 kW, including topology selection, power stage design, and thermal and mechanical integration
Design and optimize power stages using Si IGBT, SiC MOSFET, and GaN devices, including gate drive design, dead-time optimization, and switching loss analysis
Develop and validate control strategies such as FOC, grid-following and grid-forming control, PLL design, and current and voltage loop tuning
Perform loss modeling, thermal analysis, and reliability analysis to meet efficiency, power density, and lifetime targets
Design magnetics, including inductors and filter components, and specify DC-link capacitors and EMI filters
Drive EMI/EMC compliance and safety certification efforts
Lead design reviews, FMEA, and DFM/DFT activities, and support transition from prototype to production
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and set technical standards for the power electronics team
Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated, production-ready products
Support bring-up, test, and debugging of high-power prototypes in the lab
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master’s or PhD preferred
Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience designing power electronics, with demonstrated ownership of inverter products in the 1 kW to 100 kW range
understanding of two-level and multilevel inverter topologies, PWM techniques, and high-frequency switching behavior
Familiarity with embedded control platforms such as TI C2000, STM32, or FPGA-based control
Prior experience leading or technically mentoring a design team
