About this role

Description

Stratom, Inc. is a mission-driven engineering company building autonomous and unmanned off-highway vehicles and related robotic systems. Our systems operate in demanding real-world environments, where performance, reliability, and engineering discipline are essential. Integrating advanced autonomy with rugged industrial hardware for austere conditions.

Our work spans the full lifecycle of complex systems, from early concept and prototyping through fielded deployment. With multiple working prototypes in hand, our next major opportunity is transitioning these platforms into production over the coming years to deliver capable systems at scale.

We are looking for talented and experienced engineers who want to take ownership of hard problems and play a key role in bringing multiple platforms into production.### Duties and Responsibilities

Stratom is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced autonomus robotic systems.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving and working across the full development process - problem definition, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

The Robotics Software Engineer will work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to develop reliable software systems while growing technical expertise in robotics software development including perception, navigation, state estimation, and autonomous behaviors.### Qualifications

Requirements* Bachelor of Science in Robotics, Software, or Equivalent Engineering + 3 - 5 years experience

  • Master of Science in Robotics, Software, or Equivalent Engineering + 1 - 3 years experience
  • Experience developing software for robotic applications
  • Proficiency with C++ programming languages
  • Experience with modern software development practices (version control, unit testing, CI/CD).
  • Knowledge of motion planning, navigation, mapping, or control systems
  • Understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and state estimation (e.g., Kalman filtering)
  • Experience developing on Linux-based systems
  • Ability to work with sensors (LIDAR, cameras, IMUs), actuators, and microcontrollers
  • Experience debugging hardware/software interfaces
  • Experience executing functional, integration, regression, and system-level tests in a structured engineering environment

Preferred Skills* Strong Proficiency with C/C++, Python

  • Hands-on experience with ROS or ROS2
  • Experience selecting sensors for robotic applications
  • Experience developing and deploying autonomous behaviors for mobile robots
  • Experience developing and deploying motion planning software for MDoF robotic arms
  • Experience developing GUI applications for human-machine interfaces
  • Proficiency in simulation environment setup and management

Soft Skills* Strong problem-solving skills and engineering judgment

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative team member with a hands-on approach
  • Willingness to learn and take ownership of engineering challenges
