The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Controller to run finance and administration as a player-coach. You'll lead a small team of 1-2 people while personally owning the day-to-day accounting, and you'll build the systems and controls that support our growth.

What You'll Do

• Own AP/AR, client invoicing, and subcontractor and vendor payments
• Process payroll; reconcile bank and credit card accounts
• Maintain the general ledger and lead the month-end close
• Track job costs and prepare WIP schedules and project profitability reports
• Build cash flow forecasts and give leadership clear financial reporting
• Partner with our external CPA on filings and taxes
• Strengthen accounting systems, processes and internal controls
• Administer payroll and benefits (401(k), health, PTO) and serve as the first point of contact for HR
• Manage onboarding and offboarding, personnel files and compliance
• Coordinate business insurance renewals and certificates of insurance (COIs)
• Supervise and develop 1-2 finance/admin team members

What You Bring

• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
• Construction accounting strongly preferred: job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online; experience with Gusto and/or ADP and Microsoft 365
• Experience with construction project-management software (BuildTools a major plus)
• Experience leading others while staying hands-on
• Payroll and HR administration experience
• High integrity, discretion and attention to detail
• CPA a plus

Pay

$85,000–$110,000 per year, plus annual bonus.
