3PL Warehouse Startup & Operations Manager.

STL 3PL is opening a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse with 30 dock doors near Port Newark, New Jersey.

We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager who can build and launch our warehouse operation from scratch.

Our main services include ocean container loading and unloading, transloading, cross-docking, palletizing, and freight storage.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and launch warehouse operations from zero.
• Hire, train, and manage warehouse employees.
• Select forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
• Set up and implement a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Develop warehouse procedures, workflows, and safety standards.
• Manage loading and unloading of 20ft and 40ft ocean containers, including floor-loaded cargo.
• Oversee transloading, cross-docking, palletizing, and freight handling.
• Manage daily warehouse operations, staffing, and productivity.
• Build relationships with importers, freight forwarders, and potential customers.
• Help attract new business and grow warehouse revenue.

Requirements

• Proven experience launching a warehouse operation from scratch.
• Minimum 5 years of warehouse or 3PL management experience.
• Hands-on experience with ocean containers, transloading, and cross-docking.
• Experience hiring and managing warehouse teams.
• Knowledge of WMS systems and warehouse equipment.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Port Newark/Elizabeth operations is a plus.
• Customer relationships and business development experience are a plus.
