Job description

About this role

Every connected Stellantis vehicle generates data that helps us understand how it's performing in the real world. The Remote Vehicle Management (REVM) team builds and supports the on-vehicle data collection application and the AWS cloud infrastructure behind it, and we're the only team doing connected vehicle data collection for Stellantis globally.

We're looking for an experienced engineer who knows connected vehicles well and has a track record of getting technical projects delivered. You'll lead work from the first requirements conversation through vehicle launch, make design calls that span the vehicle and the cloud, and be one of the people the team turns to when a field issue doesn't have an obvious answer. You'll also help the newer engineers on the team grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery of data collection features end to end, from requirements and design through vehicle launch and support in the field
  • Plan and sequence technical work against vehicle program timelines, and raise risks early when schedules or dependencies slip
  • Make architecture and design decisions across the on-vehicle application and the AWS services that ingest and process its data
  • Lead triage of launch and field issues, tracing problems from the vehicle to the cloud and driving them to root cause
  • Work with vehicle programs, product owners, other engineering teams and suppliers to agree on scope, interfaces and priorities
  • Set the bar for code quality, testing and reliability through design reviews, code reviews and your own hands-on work
  • Mentor junior engineers and help them take on more ownership

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in software development or a related technical field,* with hands-on coding in Java, C/C++, Python* or a similar language. Related fields include:
  • Software testing, validation and test automation
  • Embedded or firmware development
  • Systems engineering or vehicle integration
  • Vehicle diagnostics or telematics engineering
  • DevOps, cloud operations or site reliability engineering
  • Technical program or project management on software products
  • Several years working on automotive, connected vehicle or telematics systems
  • Experience leading technical projects through delivery, including planning, estimating, managing dependencies and hitting fixed launch dates
  • Experience designing and running cloud services in production, preferably on AWS
  • A working understanding of how vehicle data moves from ECUs and the vehicle network up to the cloud
  • Clear communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike
  • A passion for automotive and for solving hard problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAN bus, vehicle diagnostics (UDS, OBD-II) or telematics control units
  • Experience supporting vehicle launches or field quality investigations at an OEM or supplier
  • Experience with streaming and event-driven systems such as Kafka or Kinesis
  • Embedded or real-time software experience
  • Agile delivery and TDD, with tools such as Jira, Jenkins, TeamCity, Gradle or Maven
  • Technical leadership experience, including leading technical teams, setting technical direction and mentoring engineers
  • A master's degree in a related field
