FT / PT Status – Full-Time
Salary – $42.63 - $72.46 Hourly Wage
Remote Work / In-Office – This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and telework days (two days a week, in office required at the Taylorsville State Office Building (4315 S 2700 W, Taylorsville, UT). Please note, a position's eligibility for telework is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Engineer to architect and maintain enterprise-level public and private cloud solutions. In this role, you will consult heavily with DevOps teams and architects to ensure scalable, secure implementations across our organization's cloud accounts. You will help with the State’s platform engineering efforts and combat the AI threats through automation and standards.
Maintain and improve the State’s cloud security tooling.

- IT Analyst II, $35.97 - $61.12 per hour
- IT Analyst I, $28.18 - $47.92 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties
- Enterprise Cloud Architecture: Architect, maintain, and engineer robust public and private cloud solutions at the enterprise level.
- Platform Engineering & Agency Collaboration: Partner with internal development teams to assist, build, and maintain efficient CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based engineering solutions.
+ Security tooling: Maintain and configure enterprise systems that protect the State from infrastructure and code related security threats.
- Toolchain Administration: Manage, optimize, and support our core suite of internal development tools, specifically Github, GitLab, Jenkins, and SonarQube.
- Architectural Consultation: Act as a technical liaison by consulting with DevOps teams and architects on the solutions they are implementing in public cloud accounts.
- Infrastructure Management: Provision, configure, and maintain infrastructure in cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
+ Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts to eliminate manual toil, streamline infrastructure provisioning, and improve system reliability.
- Governance & Standardization: Help the team lead efforts to standardize DevOps practices and workflows across the Department of Technology Services (DTS) to reduce technical debt
Qualifications
- Experience Level: 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or a similar role.
- Cloud Platforms: Proven experience standing up and managing infrastructure in public cloud environments, specifically AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Automation: Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline infrastructure provisioning and eliminate manual toil.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively with software developers and architects.
- DevOps Tooling: Hands-on administrative and operational experience with GitHub, and other code pipeline tools, as well as issue-tracking systems like Jira and ServiceNow.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
- Experience driving organizational change or standardizing toolsets across multiple disparate teams.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Deep understanding of modern security practices within CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps).
