The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities’ Division of Residential Resources oversees the state’s eight Developmental Centers, which provide short‑term, intensive treatment and support for individuals experiencing significant challenges living in the community.

These centers offer person‑centered services focused on building independent living skills and helping people transition back to community‑based settings when possible.

Residential Resources is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide assessment, treatment, consultation, and leadership in occupational therapy practices across multiple developmental centers. This role ensures high‑quality therapeutic services, oversees contracted OT staff, and integrates OT plans with interdisciplinary clinical programs.

**Work Location \& Schedule**

This position will work three days per week in DODD central office, one day per week at the Columbus Developmental Center, and one day per week traveling to other Developmental Centers throughout Ohio as needed.

**What Will You Do? **

**Clinical Assessment \& Treatment**

  • Document evaluations, observations, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Assess clients’ physical, cognitive, perceptual, and psychosocial functioning using standardized and non‑standardized tools.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement individual treatment plans (IPP).
  • Provide sensory integration treatment and develop OT interventions to improve daily living, leisure, and community participation.
  • Coordinate with medical, nursing, and programming teams to integrate OT into therapeutic programs.

**Program Leadership \& Guidance**

  • Develop and guide OT practices and core guidelines across all developmental centers.
  • Provide direction to OTs and oversee contracted OT staff.
  • Ensure sensory interventions and activities are appropriately implemented center‑wide.
  • Provide dysphagia evaluations and recommendations and monitor swallowing status.
  • Train staff on adaptive equipment, feeding techniques, mealtime skills, choking prevention, and modified food textures.
  • Conduct functional assessments and maintain documentation within the Electronic Health Record (e.g., Point

**Consultation \& Interdisciplinary Support**

  • Provide consultation to clients, healthcare professionals, and external partners.
  • Participate in planning and implementing OT services, policies, and procedures.
  • Request and maintain adaptive equipment.
  • Serve as an interdisciplinary team member.

**Qualifications**

Current State of Ohio Occupational Therapist License pursuant to Section 4755\. 02 of Revised Code.

Supplemental Information* This position is unclassified per ORC 124\. 11(A)(9\) and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

  • Hourly wage will be paid at step 1, unless otherwise specified by collective bargaining agreement or rules outlined in the ORC/OAC.
  • The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Rule 5123\-2\-02, “Background Investigations for Employment,” outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being employed by the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
  • The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to the appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.

  • Requires travel throughout State of Ohio \& may require overnight stay. Must be willing \& able to secure a Driver License OR supply your own transportation.
