About this role
Summary of Work
We know what you're wondering: Why would auditors need a graphic designer? What could they possibly need designed?
Spoiler alert
A whole lot more than you think.
We're hiring a designer for a brand new position to help our communications team make government information clear and accessible. Because people in North Dakota deserve to know how their money is being used.
This role will use graphic design elements to communicate to the public through print materials, infographics, social media, PowerPoint design, and more. You'll use the Adobe Creative Suite and work with the communications team to help make audits easy for anyone to understand, not just those fluent in accounting.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll use your creative skills to help us communicate with people across the state. Here's what that looks like:
- Create graphics and other multimedia for social media.
- Build presentations that are easy to follow, and break down complex information in a way that is engaging.
- Design materials for career fairs, including fun handouts that get college students excited to come interview with us.
- Use our established Adobe InDesign templates to lay out audit reports with clarity and consistency.
- Take and edit professional headshots and other staff photography.
- Work with our communications team to turn government information into visuals anyone can understand.
Bottom line: if it involves design, visuals, or multimedia, you'll help make it clear, accurate, and engaging.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Flexible environment: Opportunity to work remotely for part of the week after successful completion of 6-to-12-month probation period.
- Relaxed dress code: Of course we wear jeans!
- Exceptional benefits: As part of the state, you'll have fully paid family health insurance, retirement, vacation, and sick leave benefits, as well as additional training and bonus opportunities.
- Work-life balance: Overtime is exceptionally rare, and burnout isn't part of our culture.
- Minimal travel: Most of the work happens right here in Bismarck, with very limited travel throughout the year.
Family-first culture
We genuinely mean it. If something important comes up, just communicate with us, we're flexible.
