About this role

Position: Factory Manager

Reports To: Plant Manager

Target Hub: Production & Operational Excellence

The Hook

Are you a factory floor strategist who knows how to turn blueprint logistics into high-efficiency production reality? At our Hartford fabrication facility, we don’t just manage assembly lines—we build elite teams. We are looking for a dynamic Factory Manager to quarterback our production value streams.

If you are a high-energy leader who can effortlessly bridge the gap between engineering metrics and the welding floor, and who thrives on mentoring the next generation of manufacturing talent, you belong at our table.

Your Mission

Driving the heartbeat of our facility. Under the guidance of the Plant Manager, you will orchestrate our daily production value streams, breathing life into our core philosophy: Build it Safe, Build it Right, Build it Fast. You will align our modern workforce with the right operational streams, eliminate production bottlenecks, and maintain the elite level of safety and quality our clients demand.

What You’ll

Own Daily* Value Stream Command: Overview, coordinate, and dynamically plan production value streams to ensure optimal product flow.

  • Workforce Alignment: Strategically deploy and cross-train teams across the floor to crush daily and weekly production targets.
  • Team Leadership & Motivation: Inspire, drive, and back up a high-performing production team, fostering a culture of mutual respect and extreme accountability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Engineering and Quality departments to ensure every custom fabrication or weldment meets or exceeds elite standards.
  • Metric Mastery: Track, analyze, and report critical operational metrics, turning raw numbers into actionable operational victories.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI): Keep a sharp eye on quality benchmarks to identify, test, and implement streamlined factory processes.
  • Talent Development: Direct employee relations within your zone—including precision hiring, performance reviews, and proactive conflict resolution.
  • Mentorship Engineering: Identify standout floor talent and deliberately groom them into our next generation of value stream mentors and leads.
  • Future Scaling: Evaluate floor capacity and look ahead to identify and pitch capital requirement needs (new tech, machinery, or footprint expansions).

What You Bring to the Floor* The Experience: An Associate degree backed by 3–6 years of sharp manufacturing leadership experience, OR a high school diploma with 6–8 years of progressively responsible floor management experience.

  • The Fabrication Edge: A strong background or functional understanding of welding operations is highly preferred.
  • Data & Logic Fluidity: Proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to manipulate data, calculate structural layout metrics (proportions, percentages, area, volume), and use practical algebra to solve floor bottlenecks.
  • Elite Communication: Exceptional social and presentation skills with a proven knack for engaging, motivating, and speaking to large audiences of floor staff.
  • Problem-Solving Grit: The common-sense intuition required to interpret complex instructions (written, oral, or blueprint diagrams) and confidently navigate multi-variable production challenges.
