Pay Range: $2,200 – $2,400 Weekly

Contract Duration: 14 Weeks

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Shift: Day Shift | 3 × 12 Hours (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)

Job Overview

Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for an Operating Room (OR) contract assignment. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of OR nursing experience, with a strong clinical background in Orthopedic, Neurological, and Vascular surgeries, including both open and endovascular procedures.

The RN will work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care throughout surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care throughout the perioperative process.
• Assist surgical teams with orthopedic, neurological, and vascular procedures.
• Support both open vascular and endovascular surgical procedures.
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety during surgery.
• Monitor patients during surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other clinical staff.
• Assist with trauma-related surgical cases and general OR procedures.
• Perform conscious sedation monitoring as required.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow clinical protocols.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience.
• Experience in Orthopedic, Neuro, and Vascular surgeries.
• Experience with both open and endovascular vascular procedures.
• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Community hospital experience preferred.
• Level I Trauma experience preferred.
• Travel nursing experience is not required.

Required Certifications

• BLS – Required.
• ACLS – Preferred.

Preferred Clinical Experience

Vascular Surgery

• Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Repair
• Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
• Carotid Endarterectomy
• Carotid Artery Stenting
• Femoral-Popliteal Bypass Graft
• Atherectomy
• Vein Stripping

Neurological Surgery

• Craniotomy
• Anterior Cervical Fusion
• ALIF and XLIF Procedures
• Laminectomy/Discectomy
• Lumbar Fusion
• Kyphoplasty

Orthopedic Surgery

• Arthroscopy
• Closed Reduction of Fractures
• Spinal Fusion
• Total Joint Replacement

Experience with surgical scrubbing, trauma cases, and general OR procedures is also beneficial.

Additional Assignment Details

• Orientation: 40 Hours
• On-Call: Required, depending on assigned shift.
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, and Geriatrics.
• Operating Rooms: 17
• Pre-approved Time Off: Up to 2 requests, subject to approval.
