Information System Security Engineer

Clearance: Active TS/SCI required

Work location: On-site at a Government facility in the Washington, DC area, Monday–Friday

About the role

SparkC, LLC is hiring a Junior Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a federal cybersecurity and intelligence enterprise IT program. Working with senior engineers, you will help build security into systems and keep them hardened and compliant.

What you'll do

• Apply security configuration baselines (STIGs, CIS Benchmarks) to systems and devices
• Run and analyze vulnerability and compliance scans and support remediation
• Help document security architecture, data flows, and boundary diagrams
• Review proposed system changes for security impact under senior guidance
• Gather technical evidence to support RMF authorization and assessments
• Support security tool administration and troubleshooting

Required qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship
• 2+ years of IT or cybersecurity experience
• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
• Security+ or equivalent
• Hands-on experience with Windows and/or Linux system administration or hardening
• Basic understanding of networking, RMF, and NIST SP 800-53

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with ACAS/Nessus, SCAP, or Splunk
• Exposure to cloud security (AWS, Azure) or scripting (PowerShell, Python)

Work schedule

Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, with occasional extended hours during authorized surge support.
