Pay: $90,000–$110,000 per year
Silverman Theologou LLP (STLLP) is a multi-state creditors’ rights and business law firm focusing primarily on commercial and consumer collections, with offices in Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and California. We are seeking a California-licensed Associate Attorney to join our Los Angeles litigation team.
This is an entry-level opportunity for an attorney with 0–2 years of experience. Recently admitted attorneys are encouraged to apply. Prior litigation or collections experience is helpful but not required.
Based in our West Los Angeles office in the Sawtelle neighborhood near Santa Monica, you will gain hands-on experience in commercial and consumer collections litigation while working with experienced attorneys and legal support staff. This role offers meaningful responsibility, mentorship, and training to help you develop your legal judgment and litigation skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned litigation matters and deadlines, with guidance and supervision appropriate to your experience.
- Review case files and supporting documentation, analyze legal issues, and help develop practical litigation strategies.
- Review and approve—and occasionally draft—pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal filings, with appropriate attorney oversight.
- Participate in settlement negotiations to resolve matters and advance clients’ interests.
- Prepare for and represent clients at hearings, motions, and other court appearances as assigned, with training and guidance.
- Conduct legal research and remain current on California law and court procedures.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and colleagues.
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff across office locations to maintain accurate case information and move matters forward efficiently.
- Follow applicable legal procedures, client requirements, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active California bar membership in good standing.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States at the time of hire.
- Strong legal writing, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Initiative, professional judgment, and a willingness to learn and accept feedback.
- Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and legal support staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning case management software and other legal technology.
- Ability to travel for court appearances as needed.
Experience in civil litigation, creditors’ rights, collections, commercial litigation, bankruptcy, foreclosure, or related practice areas is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with California civil procedure and court practices is also helpful.
What We Offer
- Hands-on litigation experience with meaningful responsibility early in your career.
- Mentorship and training from experienced attorneys.
- A collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Experience working within a multi-state creditors’ rights and business law practice.
- A hybrid schedule with additional flexibility for court-related travel.
